According to Variety, Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) plans to shoot a new version of Blacula, a movie about a black vampire from Africa. The film will be directed by Deon Taylor, best known for his film Black and Blue.
The scriptwriters were Taylor himself and Micha Ranum, who is known for the film “The Pact of Silence”. The original “Blakula” in the genre of Blaxploitation (a reference to the black city audience) was released in 1972.
According to the plot of the picture, Count Dracula turned an African prince into a vampire, who opposed slavery and killed his wife. After a couple of hundred years, the prince awoke and decided to avenge the death of his ancestors.
A new film from MGM should reimagine this story. Events will unfold after the 1973 sequel “Shout Blacula Shout” in the big city after the coronavirus pandemic.
