Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy, 27, has been charged with two additional counts of rape.

The French born national is now accused of six counts of rape and one of sexual assault, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

He was charged by Cheshire Constabulary in August this year and has remained in custody.

The charges relate to four complainants over the age of 16 and are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.

The alleged attacks are said to have happened at his home address on Withinlee Road in Prestbury, Cheshire.

In the wake of the France defender’s rape and sexual assault charges, Manchester City have removed all products related to Benjamin Mendy from their official website and online store.

He was suspended by the Premier League football club in August after he was charged by police.

Manchester City said in a statement at the time: “The matter is subject to a legal process and the Club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.”

The left-back joined the football club in July 2017 on a five-year contract for a reported £52m fee, which is a world record for a defender.

He will appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on November 17 with co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, also accused of six counts of rape and one of sexual assault.

A trial date for Mendy and Matturie has been set for January 24 next year and is expected to last around two to three weeks.
