Mr Rider, who lives about half a mile away from the parade route, told NBC that he had no idea what had happened, as he had just returned from a hunting trip and was watching sport on television.
After inviting the 39 year-old in, Mr Rider began to suspect something when police started circling the property.
“All of a sudden, I look outside my street and I see a few cop cars drive by and I’m getting extra nervous,” he told NBC. He then says he asked Brooks Jr to leave.
Brooks Jr left, but as police began to arrive, he began “pounding” on the front door, saying he had forgotten his ID.
“Then the next thing you know, you see the cops with lights on him saying, ‘hands in the air, hands in the air.'”
