Countryfile had 6.3 million viewers, followed by a BBC News bulletin with 5.9 million, Family Fortunes with 5.1 million, the BBC’s adaptation of His Dark Materials with 4.9 million and ITV News with 4.8 million.
In that same week, 1.4 million people watched the 10th and final episode of The Crown, suggesting that they had binged the series in a week.
Netflix guards its viewing figures carefully and the Barb data represents the first time that the weekly audience of a streamed show has been collated alongside programmes by traditional broadcasters.
Barb also released figures for The Mandalorian on Disney+. It drew an audience of 1.9 million over seven days in November 2020, making it the 22nd most-watched show of the week.
Disney+ has agreed to be included in Barb’s data from now on, according to Broadcast magazine, but Amazon and Netflix have yet to sign up.
Netflix releases data selectively. It announced last month that Squid Game had become its most popular series launch of all time, with 111 million views in its first month.
The previous Netflix record was held by Bridgerton, with 82 million views.
