He added: “Location wise we have it all really. I speak to a lot of people who realise their money doesn’t go as far as they thought in the central Lake District region, but then look to Carlisle which is perfectly placed.
“Within 30 minutes in each direction visitors can access the Lakes, Hadrian’s Wall and the south coast of Scotland.”
Calderdale
The rolling Yorkshire hills of Calderdale hit TV screens in 2019 as the setting of the BBC series Gentleman Jack, based on the real life 19th century landowner Anne Lister. The borough mixes countryside with a proud industrial heritage.
Houses prices in the area have risen by 5 percent over the past year to an average of £181,906, meaning property investors hoping to cash in on the holiday let market would need a deposit of at least £45,000.
Investors tend to look at terraced cottages in the area, according to Tara Stone, of VG Estate Agent in Ripponden, which when bought at a standard that is ready to let out are around £200,000 to £250,000.
