7. Vickii Cornborough (Harlequins / England)
There are few better looseheads in the game than Vickii Cornborough. A standout player in Harlequins’ maiden Premier 15s title win in the 2020-21 season, her industriousness around the breakdown and destructive ball-carrying ability means she is a handful for defences.
6. Abbie Ward (Bristol Bears / England)
Ward has been at the heart of a resurgent Bristol Bears outfit this season that tops the Premier 15s table heading into 2022. A key pawn in England’s dynamic forward pack, her presence at the lineout is always a threat.
5. Lark Davies (Loughborough Lightning / England)
As one of the game’s most clinical hookers, Davies scored an impressive 19 tries last season for her club and played a key part in England’s dominance at the lineout against New Zealand.
4. Poppy Cleall (Saracens / England)
One of the most versatile forwards in the game, having played across the second and back rows as well as shining in her preferred number-eight position, Cleall is used to steamrolling defences with her ball-wrecking carries and mystifying others with her innate offloading ability.
3. Abby Dow (Wasps / England)
Dow has continually impressed for club and country over the past year. Renowned for terrorising defences with her raw pace from deep, her sublime solo try in an exhibition match against France last April – in which she ghosted several defenders – was one of the best she scored all year.
2. Zoe Aldcroft (Gloucester-Hartpury / England)
Crowned the best women’s fifteens player in 2021, it has been a stellar year for Aldcroft, who is arguably the most consistent performer in the women’s game. Famed for her imperious workrate and a player who stands up in big moments, she captained England for the first time last November.
1. Jaz Joyce (Bristol Bears / Wales)
Great Britain women’s sevens star Joyce lit up the Tokyo Olympics with her dazzling footwork and scorching speed. Always one to track back in defence, she is known as the Welsh Wizard for her blistering pace and is one of the most feared attacking players in the women’s game.
