It’s a mixed picture for travellers as we move into the peak winter sun season. While the UK has rolled back its omicron-related travel restrictions, other countries have tightened their border rules.
The rules for getaways remain varied and complicated, unvaccinated Britons have extremely limited horizons, while a handful of countries remains closed to all of us.
Here we’ve broken down various countries; from the easiest options (no quarantine either side, if you’re fully vaccinated) to the impossible (firmly closed to all British travellers). We’ve not included red list countries for obvious reasons.
Please note, the list is not exhaustive; it includes the countries that are most popular with British holidaymakers and travellers.
Non-vaccinated can enter, but must quarantine upon return
If you are not fully vaccinated, you may visit these places with just a negative test – though in some cases, you may have to quarantine on arrival for a few days at your hotel or accommodation. You must also take a test up to 72 hours before travelling back to the UK, then complete a 10-day quarantine on return to the UK, with two further tests.
The only country that unvaccinated Britons can return from, without quarantine, is Ireland.
