On May 1, the GIPL gas pipeline connecting Poland and Lithuania was launched.
This summer, Ukraine can get access to LNG terminals in the Baltic States and Poland.
Serhiy Makogon, General Director of the GTS Operator of Ukraine, announced this on Facebook.
He stressed that the gas pipeline between Poland and Lithuania is a significant breakthrough in the energy security of the entire region. It will be much more difficult for Gazprom to blackmail these countries with gas.
“In the coming days, a tanker with a cargo of liquefied LNG for Poland will arrive at the LNG terminal in Klaipeda. And after the completion of the Poland-Slovakia interconnector this summer, Ukraine will also receive LNG terminals in Poland and the Baltic countries,” he said.
Recall that the GIPL gas pipeline will provide access to liquefied gas from the floating terminal in Klaipeda, which Poland will also be able to import by tankers.
