In his video message, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Alexander Makhov has always been courageous and with his own position. The journalist has always made strong materials from the front.

“Today I’ll start with a story about one person. About Alexander Makhov, a famous journalist. You may have seen his comments, his messages. He was always like that – with his own position. Patriotic and sincere. And always without vanity. And he was always among the most courageous, among the first, he always worked in the hottest spots, tried to bring real material, strong material, in 2017 he was the first Ukrainian journalist at our station in Antarctica, when the coronavirus came, he was not afraid, from the first day of a full-scale war he was at the front “Volunteer. Veteran of the ATO. Fighter of the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade,” Zelensky said.
Oleksandr Makhov was from the Lugansk region, so it was especially important for him to protect Ukraine from the invaders, who in 2014 hostilely invaded his small homeland.
Alexander Makhov died in the Kharkov region, in the battles near Izyum, when he defended the country from invaders.
“He comes from the Luhansk region. He felt in a special way what this war means. Today he died in the Kharkov region, in the battles near Izyum. He was 36 years old. My sincere condolences to relatives, friends. Let his son Vladislav know: Russia will answer “For this death. We will definitely win a victory for Ukraine. I’m sure it was Alexander’s dream. And we will realize it. Eternal memory to him and all our heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine!” Zelensky added.
