In ancient times, when gaming magazines were not yet aware of their impending demise, and video games remained the path of enthusiasts and creators, a young man who loved MMORPGs very much wanted to become the god of his own “ideal world”.
The boy was not stupid, because he understood that creation, even on the basis of the work of other creators, is a very difficult task that not everyone can do. Nevertheless, he decided and began to look for answers to questions that no one of his peers would have dared to ask.

Prologue

At first, the boy could not understand why his beloved Windows XP, on which so many wonderful games were played, was not able to fulfill his dream. After all, here it is, a manuscript obtained with such difficulty from the dungeons of the secret great forums, which describes the necessary actions. It remains only to run a couple of files with a strange extension, and the world will come to life. He will become God! But nothing worked. The boy spent a lot of time finding out the reason and was about to give up this venture, but suddenly discovered that a particle of secret knowledge was skipped by the Great Promt. Then it dawned on him!

CoLinux is the ancient program of the greats. She has to fix it! How wrong he was then.
By installing and running CoLinux, the boy made his dream come true. He became the god of his “ideal world”. At first, the young god liked to run around the empty world and single-handedly own rivers and lakes, forests and fields, but over time he got bored with it.

Then he decided that it was useless to be a god without subjects, and opened his world to everyone. People happily poured into a new and unknown world, because the young god, although he was conceited, really loved his creation.

Days, weeks passed, more and more subjects became, and then the god for the first time discovered that something was wrong with his beloved “ideal world”. He could not understand what exactly, but he heard how the once laudatory prayers were filled with anger, saw how subjects could not get into the world, and controlled monsters raged and destroyed the villages. It seemed like the end of time had come.

Act I

The search for a new foundation was not easy, but the experience that Colinux gave, and a brief, but still own “ideal world”, made it possible to realize the value of choice. The boy realized that his whole past life was imposed by dark creators who wanted to subjugate the whole world. Under the pretext of convenience and unwillingness of the common people to learn something new, they plotted and did not stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

The desire to drop everything and leave on the console gripped the boy’s heart. Yet he understood that the path of the gamepad is a false path, and the world of darkness and vice, although great, nevertheless cannot exist without light. The boy was right. From anime hubs, he learned that for more than a year there have been heroes who, in an unequal struggle, oppose evil.

They were considered outcasts, strange overgrown sages with eternally red eyes, who are never satisfied with anything. Hating the world of simplifications and prohibitions, despising anyone who did not understand their teachings, at the mere mention of Windows in their presence, they rewarded a reckless interlocutor with the curse “Teapot”. Fortunately, the boy was not so tactless, and it was not difficult for him to join the resistance using the Ubuntu 10.04 distribution.

The boy began to learn the path of the real Linux. He struggled with black screens of death, with green video drivers, as well as with the whole damn world, which seemed to rebel against his dream! Ultimately, he succeeded. Having set up the system, the boy easily revived his “ideal world” and regained the status of a god!

Act II

Months and years flew by again, the young god ruled his “ideal world” and did not know any worries.
However, as often happens, fate was not willing to leave him alone. And boredom again began to pester the boy’s heart.
She, like the ocean, slowly but surely sharpened his nature, making him want more, thirst for knowledge! Thirst led him to tests.

Days and nights gave way to strange tests, days and nights – a waste of life. Meanwhile, the Dark Forces did not sleep.
Having learned about the new stronghold of the Forces of Light (Ubuntu), which is becoming stronger every day, the evil was frightened. For the first time in its existence, it saw a real threat. Then, the dark creators from Microsoft decided to distort Ubuntu. They started pumping tons of money into Canonical to turn it against their brethren.

Gold paid off. Lofty ideals were forgotten, and Ubuntu itself began to be filled with telemetry, extra daemons / services and strange solutions, turning the system into Windows. The boy was far from all this until his “ideal world” was touched. The entire database of accounts was destroyed by an unsuccessful update, all the long-term efforts of the subjects were erased. It was the end.
Filled with righteous anger and a weighty baggage of knowledge, the boy declared WAR!

Act III

He knew there was no way he could beat Microsoft, but a rebellious spirit fueled by anger told him what to do. He needed allies!

At first glance, there were more than enough pious warriors of light, but for some reason everyone pulled the emblem of his glory on himself: Ubuntu, Debian, Mint. The boy could not comprehend. Why do you praise yourself when the dark forces have been terrorizing our world for more than a year? There was no answer. However, he did not stop trying to reach the minds of ordinary users. Day and night, the boy preached to them about the benefits of compiling, showed them tests with games where Linux won, but it was all to no avail. The boy was already despairing when Lady Luck turned her beautiful side to him again. He learned about the great prophet.

The great prophet did not waste time studying the account after two, he took and did.
Preaching simple truths:

• Don’t judge without understanding
• Don’t be a slave to the OS, use the software
• Don’t humiliate your brother in code

The prophet inspired the boy to ignore the cries of the uninitiated or the foul play of the companies. After all, the main thing in any OS is to be able to perform the required task, and not the convenience, beauty or freshness of the package base. Having accepted the covenants, the boy stopped proving something to anyone and ended the stupid war, becoming a man.
