The main condition for the end of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the first Ukrainian president called the de-occupation of Crimea and part of the Donbass.
The first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, who died on Tuesday, May 10 , said last year that Russian aggression in Ukraine would end only when the world community forced the Russian Federation to return Crimea to Ukraine and liberate the occupied part of Donbas.
He spoke about this in an interview with DW.
According to him, the Minsk negotiation process did not bring real results.
“The war continues and we are now fighting its consequences – the exchange of prisoners, the work of checkpoints, various humanitarian problems. But the reason remains, ”Kravchuk said in a conversation with reporters.
He expressed his conviction that Russian aggression can end only when all the territories temporarily occupied by Russia are returned to the Ukrainian state, and the world community can help this.
“Until the world community, Europe, the United States, all together – and, of course, with the active and direct participation of Ukraine – force Russia to withdraw from the Donbass and Crimea, force Russia to live according to international law, the war will not end,” he stressed.
Recall that President Zelensky called Leonid Kravchuk a man who knows how to find wise words and say them so that all Ukrainians can hear.
