As Lenta.ru writes with reference to the Vedomosti report, Russian state-owned companies are looking for various ways to circumvent US sanctions. One of them is to negotiate with Chinese companies on the purchase of components and various components of microelectronics directly. One such company is Rostec.
A representative of Rostec denied plans to purchase components from China, but a source close to the company claims that Rostec is indeed considering various options for circumventing sanctions. And one of them is direct purchases.
According to the head of the Basis consortium Arseny Brykin, all ready-made solutions of Chinese manufacturers of user, server and infrastructure equipment somehow contain American intellectual property, therefore secondary sanctions apply to these products. However, the purchase of individual components that are not subject to restrictions makes it possible both to continue SKD in Russia and to maintain the performance of already purchased equipment. However, according to him, Chinese companies do not produce a full line of components, so this measure will only partially solve the problem.
At the same time, Chinese companies, apparently, if they take such a step, they are reluctant. For example, the same Huawei, which has long been under US sanctions, fulfills its obligations under contracts concluded with Russian companies until the end of March, but does not conclude new contracts. This was reported by one of the sources of Vedomosti.
In early May, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Chinese IT companies were “quietly” refusing to do business in Russia due to US sanctions and supplier pressure . Among them were called Lenovo and Xiaomi.
