Queen Elizabeth II wore a special piece of jewelry to a public event

Queen Elizabeth II visited the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday. The monarch attracted the attention of the public not only by the fact that she arrived in a buggy, but also by a small detail in her image.

The Queen paid tribute to her parents, King George VI and Queen Mother Elizabeth , by wearing a sapphire and ruby brooch, which she rarely wears and which was presented to her on her 19th birthday, which Elizabeth celebrated in 1945.

The brooch of pink and blue sapphires, rubies and diamonds was created by Cartier Jewelry House. According to the Daily Mail , the princess received this brooch as a gift along with a pair of earrings.

The elegant design mimics a stunning bouquet of flowers. The brooch is appropriately matched to the image of Her Majesty – a pink coat and a floral dress.

The Queen last wore the brooch during her tour of Australia in 2011, having not worn it since her Christmas performance in 1990.
