Video recorders Neoline X7x: the standard of 2020

A bit of history. While other brands were importing Chinese consumer goods to Russia in containers in 2018, Neoline took a course on a radical revision of its own line of registrars. Suddenly it turned out that it was possible to throw the capricious lithium-ion batteries into the trash and install ultra-reliable frost and heat-resistant supercapacitors instead. Which, to put it mildly, fundamentally increase the reliability of the registrar (why – more in detail later). You can immediately add an anti-glare CPL filter to the kit, a case a little larger than a matchbox, and a scattering of branded chips – and offer it for only 4 rubles.

It was at this price that the budget Neoline Wide S31 was sold. A very resonant click on the nose of clumsy and lazy competitors.

A year later, the Neoline G-Tech X72 model appeared from about the same concept, which, by and large, will be discussed in this review. It was a completely different body, a different hardware platform. But a similar concept in a number of moments, such as a supercapacitor, an anti-glare filter, once available only in flagship Koreans. And most importantly, the price is insanely low for the sum of its capabilities and characteristics.

In 2019, the model cost 5 rubles, while analogues were sold for at least 990 rubles, and more often about 8 rubles. The product manager of Neoline told me directly in a personal conversation: the purpose of the model and the entire subsequent line was precisely to show that by all measures a modern video recorder can have an affordable price. And advantages like magnetic fastening should not be perceived by the brand as the right to add 000-10% of the profit to the price.

Currently, the Neoline X7x line of recorders is represented by five models. All of them are united by half a dozen important points, which I, one way or another, will touch upon in the course of the material. Moreover, including in the hybrid review. The point is this – Neoline strives to introduce its own branded chips in all (!) Of its models. Well, there, there is a warning about the sudden stop of shooting due to a memory card glitch. Or mega-advanced parking mode. Believe me, this approach is, alas, rather an exception in the current registrar market. Manufacturers simply order different models from different Chinese and Korean factories and do not bother with the formation of some more or less uniform functionality.

So, half a dozen points of the same features-functions-characteristics in Neoline X7x models:

• Magnetic mount… Moreover, with the power supply through the bracket – so that the recorder itself is devoid of wires and the case can be quickly removed / installed.
• Supercapacitor… Withstands heat, cold, temperature changes. So, if you are too lazy to take the recorder with you, you can hide it in the glove compartment. For example, the device will endure winter overnight stays without any problems – unlike models with lithium batteries.
• Special night shooting mode… Great thing on the highway or in areas with poor roadside lighting.
• Anti-glare CPL filter… The name speaks for itself, removes reflections and glare in the video from the windshield.
• Cool parking mode… Firstly, when using a proprietary cable for power from the onboard network, the mode will automatically turn on and off. it very rare phenomenon among registrars. Secondly, there are a lot of settings.
• Audible and visual (on-screen) stopped recording notification… What, in an amicable way, should be in every (!) Registrar of any manufacturer. A typical situation – an error occurred in the memory card, shooting quietly stopped. An accident happened – and only then the driver learns that the shooting, it turns out, has not been conducted for a long time.

Now let’s look at how the models of the line differ.

• Neoline G-Tech X72, 5 590 rubles. The most affordable version, no overpayment for GPS and speed. Ideal for those looking for a convenient, well-thought-out recorder with high-quality shooting for the right price.
• Neoline G-Tech X77 AI, 7 990 rubles. We add GPS and the function of recognizing speed limit signs on the road. That is, the registrar analyzes the picture in real time and reports when a sign is detected. It is also the best camera in the line-up in terms of shooting quality – with HDR support and Full HD shooting at 60 frames per second.
• Neoline G-Tech X74, 8 490 rubles. We add to the X72 the proprietary GPS informant Neoline.
• Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual, 8 490 rubles. Two-chamber version. A distinctive feature is the ultra-low price for Full HD shooting with both cameras. And it is also the first two-chamber recorder in Russia, where, among other things, the rear camera wire is connected to the bracket. Therefore, the front camera can be easily removed and taken with you.

It was the two-chamber version that I tested, and I will tell you more about it. As I noted above, Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual is notable for two points – the price and the quick-detachable front camera.

I don’t know why it happened, but there is a problem with two-chamber recorders in Russia. Something decent starts from 10 rubles. Almost everything that costs less is a model with, to put it mildly, a mediocre camera. Something like this.

This is a parking camera, which the cunning Chinese have adapted for the rear module of constant shooting in registrars. It is worth – a penny. But the shooting is appropriate – a very narrow angle, the picture crumbles into pixels. Video resolution – 640×480 pixels. Or even 720p, which is most likely interpolation. That is, stretching those very 640×480 pixels to HD-resolution. Getting a decent rear camera with honest Full HD for up to RUB 10 is a fantasy task. Well, with a few exceptions.

Further. 99,9% of dual-lane models plug the rear camera cable into the front camera body. This is not counting the power wires. Total – we get an absolutely stationary structure, the model will always be in the car, whether you like it or not. You will definitely not be pulling and inserting two wires every time.

So, in Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual, for the first time among two-chamber devices, both wires are connected directly to the front bracket. We also add a magnetic holder to this – we get the ability to instantly remove and install the front module. Once again – no other two-chamber device has ever offered something like this before.

But what if you don’t want to take anything and the registrar is constantly in the car? Oh, this is also an important point. In the bulk of the recorders, there are still lithium batteries. They allow you to conduct offline shooting, sometimes up to an hour and a half. The problem is that so far not a single motorist has been able to clearly explain to me why he needs it. The car is powered by a cigarette lighter. Outside the car, it is more convenient to shoot with a smartphone. A supercapacitor, on the other hand, increases the reliability of the recorder by an order of magnitude (exactly like that – by an order of magnitude), but it does not allow to remove anything autonomously. What motorists still sincerely considered a disadvantage. And the spineless brands of registrars followed the lead of the buyers. Although they know that the failure of a lithium battery is, as a rule, the most popular failure in devices.

The lithium battery does not like frost, from which it loses capacity when constantly in the car in the parking lot. He also does not like the heat, from which he swells. And most of all he loves to fail in winter. When you get into the car and warm up the interior, the autoreg gets into recharging conditions when the temperature changes – from minus to plus. This is the surest way to destroy the battery sooner or later. Well, they took it out and took it out – what’s wrong with that? The fact that when you turn off (when you turn off the car) the camera will not save the last video. The effect is like turning off a computer by pulling the plug out of the outlet. Now imagine – you got into an accident and in order to avoid overwriting the video with subsequent shooting, you want to turn off the recorder. You remove the power adapter from the cigarette lighter – voila, your accident footage is deleted.

A rhetorical question – are there many two-chamber models with a supercapacitor up to 10 rubles? I could not find no one… I knew a couple of devices, but I checked the information at the time of preparing this material – all brands have raised their prices to the same “ten”. It turns out that Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual is also the most reliable budget two-channel recorder.

The model is delivered in a box with the design traditional for Neoline devices.

The complete set is typical. I can mention a power adapter with a USB connector. For normal operation of the recorder and parallel charging of the phone, options with a current strength of 2 amperes are suitable. In the Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual, I must admit, I first saw a charger for as much as 3 A. Apparently, this is due to the fact that not one, but two cameras need to be supplied with electricity.

The entire line uses exactly the same body and mount. The dimensions of the recorder are very compact – as high as an AAA battery, and a little less than a lighter in length.

The device is made of practical matte plastic, no easily soiled glossy elements. The assembly is excellent, tight joints, no rattling of buttons. In general, the model gives the impression of a very robust and reliable device.

Six buttons are responsible for control. Usually in recorders on the keys “hang” additionally a quick on / off of the microphone and the screen. But this was abandoned here. Another example of how Neoline proceeds from practice, and not from incomprehensible market traditions. As representatives of the brand told me, in reality, users asked to make the button as memorable as possible for just one command – to protect the current file from deletion. That is, when an accident happened or another incident got into the frame and you want to save the video.

The HOT-KEY button to the right of the lens is responsible for this. Holding the key will turn on parking mode. Convenient if you do not have direct power supply from the onboard network and this option does not turn on / off automatically. Actually, this is the first time I’ve seen this. In all other recorders, the function is hidden in the settings. You have to manually turn on the list of options every time, find the desired item, confirm … As you understand, as a result, most drivers, if they want to use the parking mode, get tired of such manipulations very quickly.

A 2-inch screen is enough for setting the position of the recorder, as well as wandering through the menu. The only thing I didn’t understand was why there was no way to switch to the full screen of the picture from the rear camera. This is probably justified by the fact that the 2-inch screen still does not allow using the recorder as a parking assistant. And if so, the full-screen image would be useful exactly once – to adjust the position of the camera during installation.

The rear module is designed to be installed above the license plate, on the trunk lid. Hence the presence of protection according to the IP67 standard – so that the camera is not afraid of rain, snow or dirt. The set includes screws for screwing the “eye”. Although 3M scotch tape has a very solid area and tenacity. Installing a camera on the trunk is not the easiest event for many motorists. However, there are quite a few demonstrative videos on YouTube. Or you can contact the service, where the installation service will cost 1,5-2 thousand rubles.

Continuing the installation question – let’s move on to the front camera. As you remember, our holder is not simple, but magnetic. I have seen the same bracket many times in other recorders. The feature of Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual is that, in addition to powering the main camera, the rear “eye” wire is also connected here.

As a result, the front camera is completely free of wires. You can take it with you like a regular single-chamber recorder.

Experts will probably object to me – they say, such a decision was even before Neoline at the beginning of this year, at least in one hybrid device of another company. Yes, that’s right. Only, attention, this is exactly a combo device, and not an ordinary recorder.

And its price is 16 rubles, almost twice as expensive as Neoline G-Tech X000 Dual. And so it turns out – the same options as in the Neoline device, we will get from other brands only with a double overpayment.

Okay, we installed the registrar – let’s see what we have with the settings. All items are presented in a single list, since there are only 20 lines in the menu, with four displayed on the screen. From the unusual – it is possible to set a reminder to format the card. You can select the reminder interval – every 15, 30, 45 or 60 days. It would seem – a trifle! But no! Therefore, almost all manufacturers write in the instructions – they say, do not forget to format the card at least once a month. Without going into technical details, it is this procedure that often solves the problem with the registrar. Approximately as among computers “have you tried to turn it off and on?”

And here’s an example of how the company does not rely on the user, who, if he reads the instructions “diagonally”, will certainly not bother himself with any formatting. That is why the brand thinks about how to help the user – in his own interests. And he finds a solution. And implements it. This, I believe, is the hallmark of a high-end electronics brand.

Let’s move on to video recording. Both cameras shoot in Full HD resolution at 30 fps. Both have a fairly wide diagonal angle of 140 degrees. So that four full lanes of the road fall into the frame, and there were no curvatures of objects at the edges of the frame. About the stuffing – we know about the presence of a top high-aperture lens with an aperture of F = 1.8 (the lower the value, the better shooting in the dark). There is a Sony Exmor IMX323 matrix, a very popular option in recorders up to 15 rubles. Processor – Taiwanese Novatek NTK000. Single-chamber models based on it, as a rule, cost from 96658 to 6 thousand rubles.

There are no questions about daytime shooting – let’s say, a confident level of the recorder for 5-6 thousand rubles. License plates are clearly distinguishable up to about 8-9 meters, sharpness is maintained throughout the entire field of the frame. The model supports the WDR function, which is noticeable – when driving with a side or frontal sun, there are practically no overexposures. The color rendition is moderately saturated, there are no stable white balance errors. The CPL anti-glare filter makes itself felt – the central part of the frame remains free of reflections.

The rear camera is slightly inferior to the front camera in terms of reading range, there are slightly more overexposures. As for the rest, it is also a very decent shooting, excellent color rendition. It can be seen that the recording is carried out in fair Full HD, without any interpolation.

In night photography, the work of both a fast lens and a matrix with a decent light sensitivity is best seen. On the one hand, a fairly clear image is obtained, on the other – very moderate flares of license plates. The numbers of passing cars are distinguishable from a distance of up to five meters.

By the way, here’s what the picture looks like with – and without the antiglare filter.

Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual was especially surprised when I opened a memory card with recorded clips. It turned out that the recorder saves files in a TS container, which is very rare among car “black cameras”, and not MP4, like other models of the line. I will briefly note the following point – in case of video damage, sudden interruption of recording, you will be able to recover files in the case of TS with a much higher probability than with the MP4 container.

“No one” is the best word to describe which Russian brands have seen such an advanced parking mode in registrars. No magic – I repeat once again, this is what happens when the company is not lazy to refine and bring all aspects of the model into shape. There are as many as six parking mode settings:

• Shooting resolution.
• Sensitivity of the G-sensor (useful if a curved “parkoon” rests against your car).
• Duration of work (auto shutdown of the mode after a specified period of time).
• Timelapse settings – how fast the video will turn out.
• Selects the trigger that will start shooting. This is either a motion sensor in the frame, or a shock sensor (G-sensor), or both items will be included.

The duration of one video is 30 seconds.

So, we figured it out with Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual – it’s time to move on to a hybrid registrar.

Hybrid DVRs Neoline X-COP 9300

On the market of hybrids, literally a year or two ago, the average price of models revolved around 10-12 thousand rubles. In 2020, it has grown significantly, the price range of the leading brands of this subject has shifted to 14-16 thousand rubles. At the same time, functionally and in terms of characteristics, there is still some wild variation. While some have Super HD video and Wi-Fi, others have just basic basic functionality. At the same time, it is absolutely impossible to objectively understand the difference between five models of the same brand in terms of radar detection. In general, the line of new Neoline hybrids fell exactly into the most competitive segment of this type of device.

I like Neoline for her firm convictions. For example, the brand believes that a patch antenna is a poor choice for a radar detector base within a hybrid device. I cannot argue – if only because no brand has yet switched to the release of separate radar detectors with a “patch”. The result is amusing hypocrisy and uncertainty. On the one hand, the companies retain models with a horn antenna in their arsenal. On the other hand, they do not want to lag behind commercial trends and miss the opportunity to make money on the compact devices with a patch antenna so beloved by the unpretentious public.

Another fundamental point is the reluctance to join the ranks of brands that have thoughtlessly rushed to introduce useless signature technology. Let me remind you the essence of the solution – detection by signatures, i.e. samples of signals, real radars. There are coincidences – attention, master, camera ahead. No coincidence – we are silent as a fish. Ideally, this is a revolution and the complete elimination of false positives. In fact, a hybrid can easily filter out a real camera. The imperfection of the technology is also indicated by the fact that many brands have begun to add signatures of automotive sensors and other sources of false alerts to the load. What for? Can a radar detector equate a gas station door sensor and a radar? Or is this just another example of ruthless marketing?

Neoline still came up with signatures, but in their own way. Instead of the initially doomed idea of ​​detecting real radars, the brand chose a diametrically opposite approach. The technology is called the “Z-signature filter” – and includes samples of signals of the very same interference, from automatic door sensors to active car safety systems. By the way, it was just after Neoline that other brands began to play kinky and add additional technologies for filtering “false” to their signature modes.

I told all this so that you, dear reader, better understand the philosophy of the company and the approach to development, including the hero of this material (in the sense – not me, but a hybrid).

Let’s go back directly to Neoline X-COP 9300.

The line is presented in two models:

• Neoline X-COP 9300с, 13 990 rubles. Basic version.
• Neoline X-COP 9300, 15 990 rubles. The top model of the line, exclusive for M.Video and Eldorado. In general, the model costs 16 rubles, but there is an eco-promotion in both networks now – bring any unnecessary household appliances and get a discount. Compared to X-COP 990c, the kit includes a proprietary anti-glare CPL filter, a bracket with power supply through it, as well as a Neoline Fuse Cord 9300 Pin cable – for direct power supply of the hybrid from the machine’s mains, bypassing the cigarette lighter. This allows the use of parking mode, which will be automatically activated when the car is stopped.

If we briefly describe the line, then Neoline X-COP 9300 is 2020 reference hybrid DVRs with horn antenna. Let me explain why.

1. There is an enlarged horn – a thing on which the efficiency and detection range of radars largely depends. The fact is that within the city in Russia a real radar detector is already, by and large, useless – there are stationary cameras around, for which a GPS informant is enough. But on the tracks there are entirely elusive low-power radars such as OSKON, SKAT, Kordon, and so on. Which is not so easy for an ordinary hybrid to cope with. One of the solutions, among other things, is the installation of an enlarged horn, as was done at Neoline.

2. Correct if I’m wrong, but no other hybrids with horn antenna have a supercapacitor – only moody lithium batteries. I think I have already devoted enough time to this issue above so as not to repeat how important supercapacitors are for a recorder. And how much they increase the reliability of the device. In my opinion, a supercapacitor is more important than any Wi-Fi and magnetic mounts. Because, not least of all, it is responsible for the fact that in the event of an accident you will have a video of the incident on your hands, and not sad memories in the style of “Oh, you should have taken a normal hybrid.” As a result, it turns out that Neoline X-COP 9300 is the most reliable hybrid DVRs with a horn antenna.

3. The model has a bunch of nice little things, namely:

• Neoline got so confused that it even turned the screen towards the driver in order to better protect the display from glare.

• Steep parking mode, which I have already talked about enough in the framework of Neoline G-Tech X76 Dual.
• Anti-glare CPL filter to eliminate reflections from the windshield.

• A special “hot button” on which the user can “hang” a function at his discretion – change the brightness of the display, add / remove the “Dangerous Zone” or “Silence Zone”, start emergency video recording.

Well, we have finished with the presentation of the novelty – let’s go directly to the review. In my hands was the version of Neoline X-COP 9300, that is, the most complete version with an anti-glare CPL filter, with a mount, with active power supply and a Neoline Fuse Cord 3 Pin cable for direct power supply from the car’s onboard network.

The model box is my compliments, with such a competent and clear description of the benefits, you do not need any consultant in the store.

The package includes a cigarette lighter power adapter, a Neoline Fuse Cord 3 Pin special cable for direct connection to the car’s wiring system, instructions with a warranty card, bracket and CPL filter. For complete happiness, only a card reader is not enough.

In terms of dimensions, the model is similar to a typical hybrid with a horn antenna. Only Neoline X-COP 9300 looks even nicer and more solid due to the CPL filter. As we have already seen on the example of Neoline G-Tech X76, the brand has taken a course towards the maximum practicality of the case. Therefore – no easily soiled glossy elements, only matte.

Of course, the main thing in a hybrid is a) the quality of the survey b) the efficiency of radar detection. This is where most manufacturers end their fantasy. While Neoline also remembers about the thing called “ease of use”. Therefore, for example, when designing the Neoline X-COP 9300 housing, they made a thing from the category “Why didn’t anyone think of this before?”. And in fact, after all, usually a hybrid is hung approximately in the middle on the windshield. One way or another, it turns out that the screen, especially in sunny weather, will glare – especially if the light source is to the right of the car. Okay, then let’s turn the screen towards the driver and further deepen it to protect it from the sun. No sooner said than done! What I wish for other brands too.

Six buttons are offered for control, in principle, one reading of the instructions is enough to memorize the functions.

Plus, as in the current line of brand registrars, there is a “hot button” on the left side of the screen.

You can assign one of the following tasks to a key at your discretion:

• Change the brightness of the screen. A standard option in many hybrids, for example, to dim the display in the evening and night.
• Quick add point “Dangerous zone”. For example, if there is a speed bump or a school ahead.
• Adding a “Zone of Silence” point – if there are no radars in a certain area, but false alarms are constantly occurring.
• Marking a file as emergency, with protection from deletion. The same function is activated by holding “Select” for two seconds (at the bottom right of the screen).

The mounting option depends on the version – the more affordable X-COP 9300c does not have power through the bracket, but my X-COP 9300 does. Here everyone chooses for himself what he needs – if you are not afraid to leave the device in the car, then you can not overpay. Otherwise, it is better to pay extra, but be able to quickly remove / install the hybrid without fiddling with wires.

As a plus, I would like to note the articulated mounting element to quickly and flexibly adjust the “look” of the lens. And also, if necessary, turn the camera to the side, in order, for example, to photograph a conversation with an inspector.

This is not the first time I have worked with Neoline hybrids – and once again I will note the consistency of the menu. It is clear that the combo device combines options for both the recorder and the radar detector, so in total it goes under 30-40 points in the settings. Especially smart brands simply make a solid list and make the user scroll endlessly screen after screen. In Neoline, in this case X-COP 9300, the main menu screen is immediately divided into main groups of settings – for the recorder, radar detector, video viewing and work with updates.

There are many options, everything is on business. All the necessary list for flexible configuration of both the recorder and the radar part is present. I have already spoken about the abundance of settings for the parking mode. Also, right in the menu, you can choose at what voltage level the recorder will be automatically disconnected from the power supply so as not to completely discharge the car battery. For the “Zone of Silence” and “Dangerous Zone”, you can set the radius of the point.

The work of the hybrid with the K-band deserves special attention. Thus, in which, on the one hand, almost all radars work, and on the other hand, sources of false alarms are detected. In the menu, you can turn off just the K-band, or you can turn off K in the city. The latter means that the range will not work in the city – where all the same all cameras are stationary. But the activation will occur on the track, when switching to the “Track” or “Turbo” mode.

If you are very familiar with radars – welcome to the advanced settings, where there are as many as three K-band options:

• Wide, i.e. standard, 23.900-24.250 GHz.
• Narrow, 24.045-24.190 GHz. Reduces the number of false positives. But you need to know exactly the frequencies of the radars in your area.
• Super slim, 24.045-24.145 GHz. Maximum reduction of false positives. The condition is the same – to be aware of the frequencies of the radar complexes.

Neoline, unlike some brands, has never produced an endless number of modes such as “City 1”, “City 2” … “City 125”. In the arsenal of the hybrid – “City”, “Track”, “Turbo” (maximum sensitivity) and X-COP with flexible automatic settings depending on the speed of the car. For more details, see the table below.

So, remember – we have an enlarged horn antenna for better detection of radars and a Z-signature filter to filter out sources of a false signal. In urban conditions, there are false alerts, but their number is minimal, I would even say – a single one. You can clearly see how the model filters signals when the car in front clearly has, say, blind spot sensors.

An important point – unlike signature modes in other recorders, in Neoline X-COP 9300, the Z-signature filter ignores sources of false alerts, but at the same time does not block real radars.

On the federal highway, measurements showed the detection of SKAT tripods from 450-500 meters, those who like to “lie down” on the roof of a “bus” – OSKON – from 500-600 meters.

In the city to help us – a GPS-informant, aka speed. For better efficiency, an enlarged GPS antenna is installed in order to definitely keep a stable connection with satellites and not miss the camera.

With the base, Neoline, as always, is in complete order, for the entire time of travels in Moscow there was not a single pass. There are no problems with relevance, the information is updated once a week.

Of course, there is a division according to the types of cameras – for example, fixing the exit to the lane of public transport or the passage of an intersection. By the way, the database contains information not only on Russia, but also … around the world. There are more than one hundred thousand points in total – in Europe, USA, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Israel, Turkey, Australia. I won’t tell you for the whole world, but at least in Belarus I had no complaints about the accuracy and completeness of the information.

Responsible for shooting is the extremely popular, well-proven Sony IMX 323 matrix, the Ambarella A7LA30 processor, which is more than sufficient for excellent Full HD shooting, and a multi-lens glass lens. The diagonal viewing angle is 130 degrees, three full lanes of the road fall into the frame. There is practically no distortion at the edges of the video. The declared bitrate is up to 20 Mbit / s, my value was limited to 16,8 Mbit / s. Which is still quite a high figure, for comparison, Super HD models in most cases have 17 Mbps.

My general impression is that shooting at the level of recorders for 7-8 thousand rubles, that is, very good. Saturated colors in the style of Sony IMX 323, license plate readability up to about 12 meters, decent driving against the sun and with a drop in lighting in the frame.

At night, the picture gives off a slightly purple tint, but it demonstrates sufficient brightness – so that both objects can be seen and the license plate is not “whitened”.

And here is how the night mode works, which, depending on the settings, can work for a certain time every day. For example, from 19:00 to 08:00. The effect is visible – indeed, the clarity of the frame becomes noticeably higher. Therefore, I can fully recommend the option of night mode as the main shooting mode in the dark.

In general, the brand’s hybrid recorder Neoline X-COP 9300 turned out to be good.

Neoline’s fresh look at electric scooters

In 2011, Neoline released the first radar detector, and in 2014, a hybrid recorder. Sofa experts scared the brand director with might and main – they say, the market is divided, newcomers like you have no chance. And so on and so forth.

In 2015 Neoline won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 for the functional design and usability of the Neoline X-COP 9700 hybrid. 2016 – “Product of the Year” has received the Neoline X-COP 9000 combo device within the framework of the national award of the same name. Neoline is one of the leaders in the Russian market for hybrids and radar detectors. Both in sales and technology.

The year 2020 has come – and now we read: “Neoline launches a new trend direction – electric transport”. More precisely – electric scooters. I am sure that after reading this you will have the same thoughts as mine – the market is divided, all niches are occupied, the leaders are determined. And so on and so forth. Somewhere something like the brand has already heard, right?

As I understood long ago, Neoline never does anything for nothing. Behind any product, behind any little things, there is a very specific, reasoned thought of living people. Therefore, for my “why” and “why” I always get a clear answer from the brand employees. So it happened with electric scooters.

As usual – to begin with, I’ll tell you about the line of models, and then – about the impressions of the personal test. Fortunately, they sent me two of the three electric scooters to Minsk for testing, which I use with the whole family from August to the present. That is, for more than three months. Of which one and a half, the elevator does not work in my entrance, so I am terribly happy about the modest weight of the models of 12-12.5 kg. Because every time you need to lift the “pepelats” to the sixth floor.

There are three models in the line, Neoline T23, T25 and T27.

The price is not the smallest – from 35 rubles to 990 rubles. Surely you already thought – well, with such and such a price tag, there is probably a speed ceiling of 47 km / h and a mileage margin of under 990 kilometers. And the weight is under 30 kg, yeah… But no. Neoline categorically refused to follow ossified approaches and took a look at the priority features of the city electric scooter in its own way. Typical Neoline, in general 🙂 So, here’s what the brand writes about its new products:

Neoline has released innovative all-terrain city electric scooters. A distinctive feature of Neoline electric scooters is large and wide wheels. This ensures the most comfortable ride both on uneven sidewalks and on dirt roads and forest paths.

In short, Neoline has prioritized travel comfort. So that when you move on an electric scooter you do not have all the unevenness of the road in your hands / feet, and when you look at the long broken-up sidewalk, the thoughts do not arise: “Lord, I’d better come by a trolleybus.”

It seems to me that many people, including manufacturers of electric vehicles, have some fantastic stereotypical opinion about things like “electric scooter for the city”, “bicycle for the city”. Such ideally flat sidewalks, smooth ramps at intersections with the road are presented. In practice:

• A modern tile, on which you ride with fine tremors on your teeth.
• The same tile, only crookedly laid, with different levels.
• Old broken-down tiles, more squares. Here, if the elements themselves are intact, then they seem to stick out of the ground, so they create obstacles with their edges no worse than the roots of trees in the forest.
• Patched and patched asphalt on the sidewalk, with millions of bumps, holes, dimples and holes.
• Curbs of very different heights, from “no, here you have to dismount” – to “I’ll risk it, maybe I won’t fall.”
• Depends on the area, but there may be plenty of dirt paths with roots and stones in your path. On some routes I really have places where it is more comfortable to ride along such paths than on the sidewalk 🙂
• Actually, trails trodden through the forest. A typical phenomenon on the outskirts, and indeed in neighborhoods, during the construction of which the forest belt was partially cut down.
• Finally, remember about alternatively thinking pedestrians who either stretch across the entire sidewalk or walk in the center so that you can’t go around. Then one goes to meet the other in such a way that you have to wait until they disperse, otherwise you will not slip through. There is only one way out – let’s go on the grass, overtake our own loose earth on the soil.

And do not think that I scrupulously recalled the “problematic coatings” scattered all over Moscow or Minsk. This whole set I meet on at least two only 5-kilometer routes.

Everything is learned by comparison, and since I already have something to compare with, I can say with confidence that typical electric scooters with narrow wheels with a diameter of 8-8,5 “are the best suited for urban conditions. Of course, you can endure, but … Is it necessary? Neoline has done three things in its models:

1. Fitted wheels with a diameter of 10-10,5 ”. That is, 20% larger than any Ninebot KickScooter ES4. And the larger the wheels, the more comfortable, the softer it is to drive bumps – this is a fact.

2. One diameter was not limited. Depending on the model, there are either one or two “all-terrain” wheels 2.8 inches wide. Among cyclists, for example, this is called plus size, and the bicycles themselves are called semi-fat bikes. Models that are sharpened for aggressive driving along forest roots and other irregularities. Among electric scooters, the most popular width is only 2 inches. Almost 30% narrower than Neoline!

3. Tubeless! Again, depending on the model, we either have one (rear) or both wheels are tubeless. Advanced cyclists hardly need to explain the megapluses of such a solution. For the rest, it becomes possible to play with the pressure and lower it to make the passage of irregularities even softer. The second important plus is protection from small punctures, for example, from a piece of wire, even a nail. After the puncture, you still drive as if nothing had happened. If the puncture source is stuck in the chamber, the air will either not release at all, or very slowly. In an ordinary electric scooter with wheels with cameras – we order a taxi or take our “pepelats” home by public transport.

By the way, against the background of conversations about “the market is mature, formed and divided”, I was surprised to learn that sellers / manufacturers of electric scooters generally do not consider the wheel width to be a parameter necessary to indicate. Finding out this information is most often either completely impossible, or you need to make remarkable search efforts. For me, at least from the point of view of an avid cyclist, it is difficult to convey the full range of my emotions from such a blatant incompetence.

Okay, but the same competitors have quite a few models with 10-inch wheels! True truth. Most brands put such “rollers” on top or almost flagship models. With decent power, speed, mileage. All is cool! Only my Neoline T23 weighs only 12 kg. And some Kugoo M5 with two tubeless 11-inch wheels – 25 (twenty five) kg. This is an option if the house does not have an elevator at all or it starts from the second floor. I am glad that Neoline did not make such a monster, because I live on the 6th floor, and due to the replacement of the elevator, I have to use the stairs until December.

So, I turn to the review of the models that came to me – let me remind you that these are Neoline T23 and T25.

We will mainly talk about the Neoline T23 electric scooter – although the model is the most affordable, it turned out to be the most suitable in my case. The fact is that Neoline T25 has both wide wheels, and the power reserve is slightly higher, and the brakes are higher, but the platform is a little narrower and shorter (by three centimeters, 48 ​​cm). In my case, there were two decisive factors – excess power reserve is not needed, the bulk of the pokatushki passes through the area within literally a couple of kilometers. Second, the most important thing is joint trips with my four-year-old daughter. You understand, in this case, the wider / longer the platform, the better.

design Features… The aesthetics are in complete order, the model looks solid, there are no blunders in the design. Including due to the lack of multiple places with protruding wires. I sometimes wonder what ugly bunches brands allow. At Neoline, I believe, a fairly spacious display unit made it possible to hide cables and eliminate one of the most potentially messy places.

With build quality and materials – complete order. I am not good at grades of metals, but in Neoline models it is clearly not the cheapest option, with an excellent safety margin. For example, in Neoline T23, due to a long platform, when driving onto high curbs, the back of the bottom strikes against a concrete block. And I, frankly, too lazy to perform somersaults with a skid, first the front, then the back. At the time of this writing, I decided to check how seriously the metal was ground off. And there only the paint peeled off! No worn-out, concave metal for you!

No matter how I undertake to read reviews on a variety of electric scooters, almost everywhere the same complaints – the backlash of the steering wheel and the lower part of the steering column. For constant vibration plus folding and unfolding. The Neoline T23 steering wheel still has no hints of loosening. This is almost three months later and, believe me, with a completely merciless driving model.

With a site in the area of ​​folding the model – exactly the same story. Each time I leave the apartment, I fold the Neoline T23, and when I go up to the floor, too. So if there was a predisposition to backlash, it would probably have already manifested itself, with such and such intensity. The brand calls the dovetail folding mechanism, whatever that means. You need to turn the steering wheel in any direction, press the lever – and that’s it, fold the steering wheel and cling to the hook of the rear mudguard. At the same time, as you can see, the front wheel does not go up, the model still stands “on its own two”. Only the metal footboard needs to be set.

The very place of the fold instills confidence in the strength. And then sometimes you look at this area in other models – and thoughts of flimsy do not leave.

Look at the triangle between the pad and the steering column. At first glance, nothing out of the ordinary. But if you look closely, the design is thought out and made in such a way that it acts as a mudguard. This protects the rider’s feet from splashes and liquid mud. In September-October, I rode about five times in the rain and, to the delight of my daughter, burst into almost every first puddle. I declare responsibly – no traces of splashes on my pants. And mine, and the child.

The mudguard is mounted above the rear wheel. And there is something to say here. Even with protection, users can still complain about flying mud and water – if the mudguard is too short. Neoline T23 has everything in order with the length, and an additional “visor” is provided at the end to completely block the mud flow.

At first, the choice of the material for the “rug” seemed ambiguous to me. The 7 mm high shock absorbing lining is made of dense foam. I admit, I had some concerns about the durability of this option compared to the more popular rubberized coating. But theory is theory, but in practice – complete order. Nowhere, three months later, did not even have a hint of scuffs, torn areas or depressed forever. No, the whole surface looks like I just got the Neoline T23 out of the box.

To be visible in the evening and at night, there is a front flashlight with a range of about ten meters. The thing is effective, at 15-20 km / h it makes it possible to see and react to some fatal obstacles. The rear running lights are very bright. By the way, they also automatically light up during the day when you pull the brake lever.

Let’s go to management. There are no foldable backlash handles, there is no solid uncomfortable “head” either. Instead, there are “holders” that are screwed into the display unit. At the same time, you should not be afraid of unscrewing during driving, the handles are held firmly. Some force is required to remove. All in all – a great option for the model to easily fit in the trunk and take up a minimum of space.

The handles themselves are chamfered slightly back towards the rider. Therefore, it is convenient to hold on if the elbows are lowered for the least resistance, and if they are slightly apart for the best cushioning of irregularities. It contrasts very much with straight rudders, and even with the gas trigger from below, when, one way or another, the brushes can noticeably wrinkle.

The trigger is located at the top right, which allows you to hold the handle tenaciously, including with your thumb. In this regard, I don’t really understand Xiaomi and Ninebot. There, the “gas” forces you to keep your thumb open and seriously reduce the reliability of the grip on bumps.

The upper trigger has one more advantage – I didn’t have to buy the lower handlebar for the child. My daughter firmly holds onto the grips with her whole palm. I kind of insure her with my thumbs just in case. At the same time, due to the backward-curved handles of the electric scooter, a convenient stop for a tenacious grip with the little finger and ring finger is obtained.

Returning to the analogs – with the lower trigger it will not work like this with a child. Unless you have very long fingers. From the series “the horrors of our town” – I saw with my own eyes dad and his daughter on the Xia *** electric scooter, where a girl of three or four years old was holding the steering column with her hands. It’s not the warmest weather. In general, if you, like me, are going to ride with a child, the Neoline T23 will be an excellent choice.

The trigger travel is short, after a certain number of attempts, you will use it either in the “full throttle” or “released” position. There is actually no need for an intermediate one, it is almost impossible to catch and maintain a speed different from the maximum.

There are only two buttons – one is responsible for turning on / off and changing the speed modes, the second for turning on / off the running lights and switching the odometer readings, namely the total and daily mileage. On the display from left to right – speed mode, charge level, current speed (in motion), total mileage (displayed if the electric scooter is not moving) and the status of the running lights.

As you probably already noticed from the photo, Neoline T23 is a rear-wheel drive model. It makes no sense to compare with front-wheel drive from the word “absolutely”, since with the maximum available 30 km / h this does not fundamentally affect the features of control or maneuvering. But there is another point. In Minsk, and, as far as I understand, in Russian cities, there are many such bicycle parking lots:

They are very fond of being installed close to or close to the walls. When you roll up the electric scooter, the rear wheel is quite far from the nearest tube on which the bike lock can be hooked. And this is a problem if you have a motor in the front wheel, that is, you need to hook the lock to the rear. Yes, you can turn the vehicle around, roll it backwards … But it looks like a crutch solution. There are no such problems with Neoline T23, and with a large wheel it is convenient to thread a bicycle lock through it.

The Neoline T23 has a narrower, inbuilt 10-inch wheel in front, and an all-terrain vehicle with a diameter of 10.5 inches and a width of 2.8 inches. Almost immediately after receiving the model, I just had to drive about 12 kilometers on business. As I noted above, the peculiarity of my area is the widest range of sidewalk surfaces, from Soviet broken-down tiles to modern bike paths.

So, most of all I was struck by a small area of ​​trampled soil with many roots up to 5-6 centimeters high. I drove them not at maximum speed, but, nevertheless, without painful sensations and discouraging the desire to repeat this in the future. The same impressions – and on the broken-down Soviet tiles.

Of course, the miracle did not happen, it is still not a two-hanger. The irregularities are felt, but the difference is about as if your feet were massaged with the sharp edges of a cube – and their substantially rounded version. The result is the following – the ride comfort is significantly increased, and the ride itself becomes much more relaxed in comparison with some Xia *** M365 on narrow 8.5-inch wheels. That is, you do not need to anxiously peer into the distance and carefully go around the same roots. And at the same time to dream about as soon as possible to pass the next broken sidewalk.

The high ground clearance speaks in favor of Neoline T23 as an urban all-terrain vehicle, a direct consequence of rather large wheels. The clearance is 13 cm at the highest point, 11.5 cm at the lowest.

For comparison, the Xia *** M365 has 8.8 cm, the Nine *** KickScooter ES4 has 8 cm in general. At the same time, it cannot be said that the wheel size is definitely to blame. There are also models with 10-inch “rollers”, where the ground clearance is “killed” by a high-capacity battery. So, the Ninebot KickScooter Max at 10 inches has a ground clearance of only 8 cm, ridiculously small. Here, obviously, you will not dissect along the paths with roots.

There are three speed modes in total: up to 12 km / h (minimum power), up to 20 km / h (average), up to 30 km / h (maximum). The start is quite smooth, the electric scooter does not get out of hand. I spent most of the time in the second mode. This is the best choice, since with my weight of 76 kg it allows you to get an average of 23 km. In maximum mode, the stock drops to 18 km. Most of all, girls and thin men weighing ~ 55 kg will be lucky, they will obviously add another 3-4 kilometers to my result.

For complete happiness, I would still like to be able to switch modes on the go. Now this can only be done when the electric scooter is stopped. As Neoline explained to me, this state of affairs is due to certain peculiarities of the requirements for selling in the European Union, where the brand’s models are also supplied. However, it is possible that in the future, a firmware will be available for Russians with a change in the speed mode while the electric scooter is moving.

Recharging for Neoline models is on a par with the best indicators of “colleagues” – 5 hours is declared. According to my measurements, it took 4 hours 50-55 minutes. Very good.

Neoline T23 has a rear disc plus an electronic brake. Such a set copes with the task of effective braking with a bang. Although I would “out of the box” make a slightly wider brake lever travel. However, this moment can be corrected independently.

Let me remind you that I also visited the Neoline T25 model, which costs 4 rubles more than the Neoline T000, namely 23 rubles. For a surcharge, we get a front drum brake plus a rear mechanical brake. Just two wide tubeless wheels and a total of 39 km of power reserve. In my opinion, if you drive without a young passenger, it is better to take a closer look at the Neoline T990, the overpayment is fully justified.

Well, for those who like very unusual solutions – go straight to Neoline T27. This is the flagship of the line, which differs from the Neoline T25 in the presence of not only a front drum, but also a rear disc brake. But the main thing is that instead of the gas trigger here … A pedal built into the platform!
