The highlight of positioning and why you need a humidifier
Each positioning should have its own zest that attracts attention. Often it is invented on purpose, as, for example, that this is not just milk for you, but milk from happy cows (although it does not smell of happiness there), but sometimes the zest arises by chance. This is the story with the humidifier.
There is a picture on the official website promising that thanks to the Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier, the humidity level will always be “like in April days”. And then the explanation goes that, according to research, in April in Chinese cities the average humidity is 58%, which is the humidity that is optimal for Chinese health and Chinese homes. And immediately a beautiful picture is drawn in my head, how nature awakens, everything turns green, azaleas, peach and cherry trees begin to bloom. Wonderful time! However, Russia is located north of China, so we associate April with the time when you seriously think about buying rubber boots, since the melted snow porridge turns the streets into a swamp. Well, the acceptable level of humidity in April is regulated not by the nature and flowering of peach trees, but by GOST, according to which the prescribed humidity should be at least 40%.
However, without irony, the correct humidity level is extremely important. And in winter, in most houses, it drops to catastrophically low levels. For example, in my Moscow apartment, if nothing is done, the humidity level is 17% and drops down to 10%. This usually happens when I return from St. Petersburg a few days later.
The main consequence of low levels of humidity for the body is a decrease in immunity. This is due to the fact that the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes dry out. And this is a natural protective barrier. Accordingly, the risk of getting sick with respiratory diseases increases, plus there may be exacerbations of asthma, allergies and the like.
For me, the most unpleasant symptoms of low humidity are sore throat and stuffy nose in the morning. During the day it disappears, but in the morning life is not sweet, so I bought myself a humidifier the year before last. And during this time, I managed to draw up a short set of rules, which is better to follow if you buy a humidifier precisely so that it becomes humid in the room, and not for games:
- water consumption at least 300 ml / h
- tank volume not less than 4 liters
- Built-in humidity sensor
- Antibacterial filter or other water purification method (who wants to breathe dirt?)
- Pour only filtered water (so that there is no white bloom)
- Probably only ultrasonic cleaners, since steam is too noisy, and traditional (cassette) humidifiers usually have low performance and a lot of maintenance problems.
Appearance and design
I love the design of Xiaomi home appliances. And the humidifier is made in accordance with the general trend – a laconic, calm design without pretentious elements, made of white matte plastic. Only the tank lid is glossy. If you have other equipment from Xiaomi, then the humidifier will look even more harmonious. For example, a humidifier next to a kettle.
Well, then read the captions to the pictures.

The water tank lid is the only glossy element. Note the two gray dots. One on the lid, the other on the body to make it easier to get into the grooves. The lid on the body is only held by its own weight. In all the years of use, I have never dropped the humidifier, but remember that if the tank falls, everything will spill
Perhaps, as a minus, one can single out the fact that the spray nozzle is static, that is, you need to rotate the humidifier body, if, for example, you want to turn it off

There is a transparent risk on the tank to keep track of the amount of water

The tank is illuminated. In the application, it can be turned off so that it does not disturb at night

The humidifier has only one button, but its light indication shows the selected mode. For example, when a quarter of the ring is lit, then the spray level is set to low, when three quarters, it is high, and when the entire ring is lit, it is a constant humidification mode. Well, if the light is red, then you need to add water

The insides of the humidifier are typical

Here everything is immediately clear (if you remove the protective blotch of the UV lamp): water enters the chamber, goes through the labyrinth past the UV lamp, which is just responsible for antibacteriality, and then the path only to the chamber, where the water will “vibrate” to a state of steam and will be sent upstairs

On the back there is a Wi-Fi reset button in case it dulls. A useful little thing, because, if anything, you can reconnect without pulling it out of the socket

If you remove the tank or run out of water, the button lights up red
And finally, some infographics from Xiaomi.
Operating modes and application
Although the humidifier can be operated by pressing the center button, it is assumed that you will be using the application. Otherwise, what’s the point of buying a smart humidifier and overpaying 1.5 thousand rubles?
I had no problems connecting the humidifier. By the way, I recently unpacked a smart router from Xiaomi. If you have one, then he must identify himself and offer you to add a new smart Xiaomi technology. For example, with an air purifier it was like this.
But in my case, it’s just a search through the Mi Home app. Don’t forget that all smart appliances only work with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. When connected, the user will see the following pictures. If you do not have a smart router, you will need to enter the password for Wi-Fi.
The application interface is simple. Turn on / off, select the mode., You can turn off the backlight, notification sounds, you can set up the automatic on and off times.
Of particular interest is the constant humidification function, when the humidity level can be set, and the Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier will try to maintain it.
Also, do not forget about the settings section, where you can set certain automation of actions. For example, start the humidifier when the lights come on in the hallway. You come home from work and the humidifier starts working.

Impressions
Only pleasant impressions from the humidifier. Easy to assemble, nice looking, convenient to fill with water. Since the humidifier is smart, it can be controlled via Google Assistant or Alice from Yandex. This is especially convenient if you use smart speakers. Although, in general, a humidifier is such a gadget that you turn on, and it just works all the time.
About ultrasonic humidifiers they say that with constant use, a white coating appears on equipment and furniture. It all depends on the water. In St. Petersburg the water is soft, and there was no such problem, but in Moscow it appeared. Therefore, I began to fill the humidifiers only with water that passed through the filter.
The built-in humidity sensor in the Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier is, of course, not super accurate. And since it is in the center of the humidification zone, it shows higher values. For example, the app shows 55%, but a tabletop hygrometer a couple of meters away shows only 40%. And this is normal, you just need to take into account when using and maintain a higher humidity level. So it’s better to buy another separate humidity sensor. I bought this one in a stall on the Savelovsky market for 200 rubles. It has been running on two flat batteries for the second year already.
Perhaps most importantly, the humidifier works. I turned it on after my arrival from St. Petersburg, when the humidity level was 19%. I chose the function of constant humidification with an aim of 60%, in about 13 hours Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier brought the humidity in a typical 33-meter room to 40%. The user only has to add some water.
The humidifier has not just a lot of competitors, but a million. Frankly, I see no point in citing them as examples. Yandex.Market will give you dozens of pages. With a price of 4 rubles, the cost of Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier may seem overpriced. But it differs from its cheaper counterparts in its pleasant design, quality assurance, and also the presence of a smart component. If you are building an ecosystem from Xiaomi at home or just want a “smart home” so that you can ask: “Come on, humidify me”, then Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier is an excellent choice.
