Introduction

Finally, a robot vacuum cleaner from Xiaomi came to me for a test. And not just some simple one, but rather sophisticated and with a wet cleaning function. The cost is 22 thousand rubles. And so gracefully it coincided that recently they sent me Ecovacs Deebot 900 at the price of 35 rubles (although for some reason in M.Video it is sometimes sold for 000 rubles).

Accordingly, after the release of thematic reviews, I will make a small text comparing an expensive robot and simpler. I must say right away that we will be talking about various little things, since both vacuum cleaners are good in terms of cleaning.

It should be remembered that Xiaomi is not first price products. To compete in value is a lost cause. For example, on Yandex.Market, robotic vacuum cleaners with the function of dry and wet cleaning start at 2.5 thousand rubles. Frankly, I even wonder what is there for this money …

Any Xiaomi product matches the positioning – cheaper than branded AAA competitors, and better quality than consumer goods, and the disadvantages present are compensated by the price difference. For example, the top-end Ozmo 950 has carpet recognition functions that it avoids in wet cleaning mode. Mi-bot does not have such a thing, and you need to designate the carpet in the application as a prohibited area for cleaning. Unpleasant? Highly! What if I say that a top-end vacuum cleaner costs 20 thousand more? And the average resident of Russia, who counts the salary, immediately thinks that for 20 thousand he will not only manually expose the carpet in his house, but can regularly mark the neighbors. This is how the magic of Xiaomi works!

Appearance and features

Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C is tasteful. Plastic robot. The build quality and materials are good. The design of Mi Robot is such that it makes you want to touch it. I think this is the fault of the top cover, made of thick glossy plastic.

On the cover there is a navigation camera, as well as buttons for turning on and sending the robot to the base station. You will not use them, since you have to bend down. It’s easier to lie down on the sofa and do everything from your phone.

The side surfaces of the robot are made of matte plastic. Rear exhaust. I think you can see in the photo that the air blowing hole itself is relatively small. And some of the holes have a decorative function.

In front of the robot there is a black glossy strip of the visor. There are 7 infrared sensors that strike 20 cm forward. This helps the robot to avoid crashing into walls and furniture legs.

The bottom of the robot is also made of white matte plastic. There are 4 sensors in front, thanks to which the robot will not fall off the stairs. By the way, the sensors work well even if they get dusty. On the left is the brush, and the black hole on the right is the optical flow sensor. It is in the recess and helps the robot navigate the carpets. I guess we are talking about carpets with thick pile. There are 4 more sensors on the nose, which monitor the robot not to fall down the stairs.

In general, the vacuum cleaner has 15 different motion sensors, among them: a camera, an optical flow sensor, a gyroscope, an acceleration sensor, an edge, a dip, a fall, a full dust collector, a fan speed, etc.

Of the technical features – only one circular brush. Perhaps this solution is even better than when two brushes. If there is large debris on the floor (for example, spilled buckwheat), then with one brush, as if it scatters less. In general, the use of these brushes is that dust is swept out when the robot walks close to the wall.

The robot has high ground clearance and powerful rubber wheels. The tread pattern hints that the robot can ride off-road. In fact, such powerful wheels are needed for the reason that the robot has a wet cleaning mode. Some manufacturers point out in their instructions that when the floors get too wet, the wheels can slip. Xiaomi does not have such a problem.

The central brush can be easily removed. The villi are soft. Perhaps I would even like it to be a little tougher. This would help to sweep out the dust better.

Under the top glossy lid is a reset button, a Wi-Fi indicator, and a dust container.

A simple handy container with a lid that comes unfastened to release dust. A replaceable filter is installed, which should retain 0,3 microns dust.

Typical filter. The material resembles a mixture of cloth and paper. The site says that it can be washed, but somehow I didn’t risk it. It’s easier to knock on the bathtub a couple of times and knock out the dust. I would like to note that in more expensive models I saw a solution when another foam rubber pad was laid in front of the filter. It seems like a trifle, but it becomes much more convenient with it, since most of the dust settles on it in a lump. And with this robot vacuum cleaner, dust accumulates in the folds of the filter and you need to put more effort into cleaning.

There are grooves on the bottom of the robot and a water tank clings to it on magnetic latches. A rag clings to it. The cloth clings and comes off easily. It is made of durable fabric. Visually it seems that it will last at least 3 months.

One of the features is that during wet cleaning, the robot does not remove the entire surface of the cloth, but only its central part. After cleaning, the cloth looks like this.

First power on and Mi Home app

For full work, you need a smartphone with the Mi Home application installed. When you turn it on for the first time, the robot will ask for a Wi-Fi password, download a firmware update if desired, offer to rename itself, and also give advice on how to prepare for the first launch. A Wi-Fi robot, like all smart equipment, needs a 2.4 GHz frequency. This is done because this frequency has a larger coverage area, in contrast to 5.0 GHz.

After switching on, the robot itself will be able to reach the charging station, and during firmware updates it will flash with lights.

There are not very many settings for the robot in the application, but all are necessary. There is a counter when to change consumables. You can select the suction power and the amount of water supplied.

By default, the robot simply rolls back and forth around the apartment, achieving purity with persistence. But the new firmware brought a top-end function – saving the map. The function must be turned on immediately and must be used. Then, after 3-4 arrivals, the robot will remember your apartment, and the options of virtual boundaries and the choice of zones for cleaning will become available to you.

Virtual boundaries are needed, for example, during wet cleaning, so that the robot with a rag does not drive onto the carpet. The downside is that you can’t make profiles. That is, you need to either keep the virtual border constantly and then the rug will remain dirty, or set it up for the duration of wet cleaning. In addition, the robot should be noted that even if the robot has finished cleaning, and at that moment you remembered that you did not remove the border, then you can immediately remove it, and the robot will immediately go to clean it without prodding.

Of the interesting features is the presence of a control panel in the application. A convenient thing, you can remove something point-wise.

Battery life

The autonomous operation time depends on the power of the suction mode. Let me give you a list of statistics on cleaning my apartment with a cleanable area of ​​22 sq.m .:

Accordingly, you can focus on approximately 1 hour of device operation. Standard mode is suitable for cleaning. Intensive and turbo mode are needed in case of carpets.

Impressions of use

Let’s start with the main question: is the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C worth its money (21 rubles) and can we recommend it for purchase? Yes it is, and if this is your first robot vacuum cleaner, or you have used a more affordable model before, then you will definitely not be disappointed. The robot is made even more attractive by the fact that in M.Video it is sold for 990 rubles, and on any “gray” sites there are options even cheaper (but there is a danger, which you can read about in the “cons” below).

I will list the impressions of use in points:

• Excellent cleaning quality. The robot is excellent at collecting dust and copes well with the rug by the door. For testing, I sprinkled buckwheat (large debris), salt (medium grinding) and soda (like dust) on the rug. After cleaning, only traces of soda remained. I attribute this to the fact that the baking soda is very fine and gets stuck in the rug, and the robot’s brush is too soft for the hard pile of the carpet, aimed at wiping the feet. The robot would collect everything from the floor. After working on an expensive robot, traces of soda also remain, but slightly less.

• For a test cleaning of the rug, I used the remote control to thoroughly sweep over all areas.
• Cleaning zones can be set in the app, and the robot follows the boundaries relatively accurately. In the comments, I was asked if the robot would fall down the stairs. No, it won’t, it has a lot of sensors at the front of the underbody, including a height sensor. As soon as he leaves the boundary of the floor, he will instantly stop. In general, the movement speed of the robot is small, so it should not fall out. For your own reassurance, you can follow the robot for the first time, and after it draws up a map of your apartment, you should put a virtual border. The robot can travel 5-10 centimeters outside the virtual wall. This should be taken into account.
• The volume of the water container is 200 ml. The robot spends about half on cleaning 22 square meters with maximum water supply. Wet cleaning is a thing. The robot will not wipe off any strong dirt. It’s more like wiping with a damp cloth. But if you do this cleaning every day, then you can walk around the apartment in white socks, and at the end of the day they will remain white.
• In the application, you can customize the cleaning schedule to your taste: days, hours, regularly or only once, etc.
• The robot’s dust container can be easily removed and placed. The cover snaps off. So in terms of container care, everything is fine. I slightly disapprove that the hole of the dust collector is not covered with plugs. This means that the container must be removed carefully, and after cleaning the robot, it is better not to turn it over, otherwise garbage will fall out of it.

• Since the robot does not have a lidar, and the main orientation in space is due to the camera on the top cover, the robot likes to work when the apartment is well lit. Subsequently, when he draws up a map of the area, you can dim the lights.
• The Mi Home app has smart scenarios designed for the smart home ecosystem. You can set up something like this: if the smart toilet seat feels pressure, it means that the robot has 25 minutes to clean it, and a smart light should light up in the hallway.
• For wet cleaning and moistening of rags, not a drip system is used, but a pump, as on expensive models. It is very good.
• In early reviews I read that the robot does not call in to charge while it has a wet cleaning tank attached. I drove in!
• Also in one of the reviews I found the fact that it turns out that if you constantly use the maximum suction level, then, according to the service center employees, the turbine fails faster. I think this applies to all vacuum cleaners!
• To remove a virtual border, in the application, you need to point your finger at it and press the cross. By inertia, I pressed the “reset” button a couple of times, because it somehow makes more sense. After that, the card was completely discarded and you had to wait for the robot to line it up again.
• It is better to order consumables on aliexpress. Both cheaper and easier.

A little about the cons. For cons, I went to Yandex.Market, since I didn’t have any cons during the test. Rather, there are certain ones, but they are required, since this is implied by the price of the robot. In general, I got the impression that robotic vacuum cleaners are similar in pricing to cars. The base car can drive, but if you want the kickstand to slide out when you open the door (on a Range Rover it does), please shell out.

• As I understand it, there are many people on the Market who saved money and bought the Chinese version of the robot. As a result, there are complaints that the robot does not connect to the Russian Mi Home app. Yes, for Chinese Xiaomi products, you need to download the Chinese version of Mi Home.
• There is a complaint that the bumper is scratched. I will say that all robots have their bumper scratching against the sharp corners of furniture. First of all, when Samsung came to me for 70 thousand, he scratched his face on the bedside table under the TV. I used thin sticky foam and the problem was solved.
• I also saw a complaint that the sound of the wheels in quiet mode is heard. All robots can hear the wheels spinning.
• Do not empty the water container completely, there will always be some water left. And there is. I don’t see this as a problem.
• For those who bought the Chinese version of the robot, after downloading some firmware, the robot began to speak in Chinese and turned around. Perhaps you should overpay a couple of thousand, but take the option for Russia.
• The robot can clean the same place twice. For example, he cleaned the kitchen, then came back and again removed something selectively in the kitchen. It was so. It’s funny that in the selling features it is noted that the robot does not do this. In general, I don’t really understand why this is a minus. As he wants, so let him clean up. The main thing is that the apartment is clean.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C is a great robot vacuum cleaner to consider buying. The robot stayed with me for 3 weeks, and during this time I had no complaints about its work. He consistently cleaned according to the schedule, did not dull in the corners, and returned to charge. If you aim at a vacuum cleaner with a price of up to 20 thousand, then you should pay attention to the promotions.

You may be tempted to take the Chinese version. I recommend reading negative reviews on Yandex.Market and then choosing a store where, if something happens, there will be no problems with a return. If there are owners of this robot among the readers, then do not be lazy to tell how the robot behaves during long-term operation. Does the battery degrade, do glitches occur, what about reliability?
