Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 officially unveiled

Samsung has officially unveiled a smartphone with a flexible screen – the Galaxy Z Fold2. The device received a 6.2-inch external Infinity-O screen, a large 7.6-inch main flexible display with the thinnest bezels and an almost invisible cutout for the front camera, with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. And also dual speakers with improved stereo effect were installed in the device. According to the company, the main screen of the novelty is made of ultra-thin Ultra Thin Glass. Thanks to the technology of the hidden hinge with two-cam mechanism CAM, the smartphone can be opened and fixed at any angle. Inside the gap between the hinge and the body of the Galaxy Z Fold2, a solution that was first introduced on the Galaxy Z Flip is applied – micro brushes that prevent dust and small particles from entering under the display. The reduction in the size of the microbrushes was achieved due to the technology of fine cutting and optimization of the density of the fibers and the composition of the materials from which they are made.

The Galaxy Z Fold2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor, it is equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of permanent memory, and the triple main camera consists of 12 MP (ultra-wide-angle) + 12 MP (wide-angle) + 12 MP (telephoto).

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 will go on sale in Russia in black and bronze colors on September 18 this year at a price of 179 rubles.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 turned out to be very interesting and better than its predecessor. The company enlarged the external display, the size of which users of the first model complained about, removed the cutout on the internal screen and refined the hinge design. The first commercial device with a hidden front

Introduced ZTE Axon 20 5G, the first commercial smartphone with an under-screen camera. While Xiaomi and other manufacturers only show similar technologies and promise to start releasing smartphones with them in 2021, the Chinese ZTE got ahead of everyone and brought the device with a hidden camera on sale. The smartphone received a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of permanent memory, a main quad camera (64 + 8 + 2 + 2 MP), a 4220 mAh battery with 30 W fast charging. Prices for a novelty in China start at 2 yuan (about 198 rubles).

I know people who don’t like bangs or cutouts in their screens, and they are very happy that devices with a front-facing sub-screen camera are finally appearing. I am calm about the front cameras in the screen, somehow I have already stopped noticing them, and the hidden camera, in my opinion, is still a raw product, and, I think, it has more disadvantages than advantages. As for the ZTE Axon 20 5G, it turned out to be a completely ordinary smartphone for the end of 2020, and if it were not for the hidden front camera, the model would have been lost among its own kind.

Affordable headphones from TECNO Mobile

TECNO Mobile is launching three new models of wireless headphones on the Russian market at once: Hipods-H1, Hipods-H2 and Minipods-M1.

Models Hipods-H1 and Hipods-H2, according to the manufacturer, are the ideal solution for sports. They have a vacuum ear cushion design that fits securely in your ears and weighs only 55 grams. At the same time, Hipods-H1 has IPX5 moisture protection, while Hipods-H2 has IPX4. The first headphones are able to work in standalone mode for more than 5 hours, while the battery of the second will last for 4.5 hours of continuous use. Both models have a built-in accelerometer and touch controls.

The Minipods-M1 earbuds also have IPX4 water resistance, like the other two models, support Bluetooth 5.0. All headphones are optimized for TECNO smartphones, when you open the charger cover on the company’s smartphones, a pop-up connection interface immediately appears.

The most important thing that all three models have in common is their low price. So, Hipods-H1 was estimated at 2 rubles, Hipods-H990 – at 2 rubles, and Minipods-M – at 1 rubles.

New devices from HARMAN

HARMAN company presented a whole scattering of new devices within the framework of IFA 2020. The stylish Harman Kardon Citation 200 speaker supports Chromecast and AirPlay 2, connects to a network via Wi-Fi, and can also stream music via Bluetooth. Compact speakers JBL Go 3 and JBL Clip 4 received a new design, the connection is via Bluetooth 5.1, there is protection according to the IP67 standard, and the operating time reaches 5 hours. The portable JBL Xtreme 3 has four passive radiator speakers, IP67 protection, and a battery life of 15 hours. There is no information about the availability of speakers in Russia and their prices yet.

All products look interesting, although the same JBL Clip 4 is more of such a light restyling than a completely new device. What I liked was the Harman Kardon Citation 200, it is interesting to watch and listen to the speaker live, and find out the price for it in Russia.

Netflix localize

The American service Netflix, which is engaged in streaming movies and TV series, will receive full Russian localization. On the territory of the country, the partner of the service will be the National Media Group (NMG). They promise to translate the Netflix interface into Russian by the end of the year, also about 100 domestic films will be added to the service library, and most importantly, new subscription prices will be presented, optimized for our market.

I don’t know how good or bad it is, we have to wait for the official launch and see what happens. Of the obvious advantages are subscription prices tailored to our market, and fully localized content, the second is inaccurate. And of the minuses – that part of the content can simply be removed or cut from the local version, and this is already bad.

New S-Class presented

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its new flagship S-Class sedan. The car is built on a modular MRA II platform, optionally, an active hydropneumatic E-Active Body Control suspension is available in it, which can independently track irregularities in the roadway, and next year a hybrid with an electric power reserve of up to 100 km should appear.

The new S-Class received a second generation MBUX electronic system with a 12.8-inch OLED display in the center, and from the middle of next year, the car will be equipped with a third-level Drive Pilot. In addition to this, an extended version of the head-up display with augmented reality for navigation and an automatic parking system are available as an option, which works even without a driver in the cabin.

The car turned out to be ambiguous from the outside, the branded front became not as bulky as before, and not everyone liked it, and even the under-painted rear end, which does not fit in with the S-Class, but more resembles the CLA. But if before, as for me, the Germans turned out quite well, then the stern obviously suffered. And in general, Mercedes-Benz does not stick on large cars with a rear end, first the new GLS, now the S-Class.

There are also questions about the second generation MBUX, a huge tablet that has taken over the central part of the console and replaced all the usual knobs and buttons, this is not the most convenient solution for working on the go. Plus, it is installed in such a way that it may not be very convenient to use it for navigation, so you have to either display data on the dashboard, which, by the way, began to display a 3D picture, or buy a projection with augmented reality.

New generation Hyundai Tucson

Korean automaker Hyundai has released the first images of the new generation Hyundai Tucson crossover. At the back, the Koreans seem to have decided to copy the Germans from Audi and combined the lights with an LED strip. But in the cabin, they borrowed the idea of ​​Mercedes-Benz, installing a large display at an angle that replaces all other controls. By the way, the picture shows that Tucson will receive a virtual dashboard that can display a 3D picture, such a solution is already in the company’s arsenal and is successfully installed on the latest generation of the premium Genesis G80.

Augmented reality game

The new Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit playset for Nintendo Switch will go on sale on October 16th. This is a traditional Mario Kart race with augmented reality and a real RC car that is equipped with a camera and will broadcast the image from the room to the console in real time.
