Earlier it seemed to me that the reason for abandoning the device might be its cost, but not the capabilities that are inherent in it. The manufacturer’s name cannot be such a reason in my world, but I was wrong. Every time we publish Ten Reasons material, there are a fair number of people who argue that Samsung, as a name in the smartphone market, is not eligible for consideration. I don’t know what a terrible sin the company committed against them in childhood or adolescence, maybe their parents frightened their terrible Samsung, but it looks like that. This trauma is fully manifested here, since people have never had Samsung equipment, but they appear in every material and campaign for their faith in others. For an ordinary person, the name of the company does not mean absolutely nothing, behind this name is a set of characteristics (warranty, number of service centers, software updates, and further down the list). There is no way to say about Samsung that they eat babies in the morning and differ in something unimaginable from similar businesses. But it is possible that you have your own opinion and only this one word causes stupor or aggression. Why rape yourself? Just walk by.

I do not approve of this, I think the reason is weighty and in many respects emotional.
Reason number 3. Availability of alternatives in the form of Note20 Ultra, S20 Ultra
The speed of development of new devices has slowed down somewhat, which we see during the transition from one generation to another, only the growth of prices from year to year remains unchanged. But this means that previous models can be bought for adequate money, while they will not have any special flaws. With the S21 Ultra it turned out that way, the price starts at 110 thousand rubles for the 128 GB version, while the predecessor can be bought for 80 thousand rubles, the S20 model is simpler in many aspects, but definitely not worse.
The Note20 Ultra, released at the end of the summer, is even more interesting, because in the basic version of the 256 GB memory, there is a built-in S Pen, the bronze case is of the same quality as in the S21. The issue price is 85 thousand rubles. And for rational buyers, this is the right price / performance ratio.

Reason number 4. No memory cards – hello Apple’s approach
The S21 Ultra dropped support for memory cards, now you are limited only by the built-in memory capacity, you need to choose it correctly on the shore, the options are as follows: 128, 256 and 512 GB. A memory card is a cheap thing, and therefore it was possible and necessary to add it to these devices, but the decision is political. It is impossible to approve it, since this is a deterioration in performance in order to push to the choice of older models with a large memory capacity.
Reason number 5. Ads in apps such as the weather forecast
I don’t know who decided to look at Xiaomi and do a brilliant thing, namely to stick advertising banners in the applications that are built into the flagship from Samsung. You can opt out of advertising and marketing emails, but they may still be shown to you. I somehow bypasses this problem, since I use a VPN, but those who buy Russian devices do not use VPN, often come across banners that also advertise third-party services. For a flagship that you buy at full price, and no one gives you a discount for advertising, this is just some kind of unacceptable level of slovenliness, it just can’t be done. And there is nothing to justify this approach, you are already selling the device for the maximum money, and no one is waiting for any advertising inside.
Reason number 6. The camera takes some getting used to, but is that what you want?
The S21 Ultra, like the two previous Ultras, uses a 108 megapixel main module, which is very different from all previous cameras in Samsung’s flagships. For most people, the camera in the S21 Ultra will become unusual, since in order to take pictures close, you need to use the zoom or cut out part of the picture taken with the main module. Photo opportunities are very interesting here, but there are no ideal devices, so you need to clearly understand all the pros and cons of such a solution. The important thing is that the cameras and the way they shoot are different from previous models, and other manufacturers as well. Therefore, anyone who tries to use the Note20 Ultra in a familiar manner will most likely encounter unsatisfactory results. The problem is not with the camera, but how to shoot with it. And this requires a little getting used to, in a couple of weeks you can fully retrain and not experience problems.
Reason number 7. PWM in an OLED screen
The technology of OLED screens itself and its implementation presuppose the presence of PWM (no one else has any other devices on the market today), this is what can be described as flicker that is not visible to the human eye. But as soon as you decrease the brightness of the backlight, the frequency of flicker increases, it still remains invisible to the eye. There is a small percentage of those who are sure that PWM prevents them from using OLED screens, and it is not so important who the manufacturer of the smartphone is and whose matrix is in it (in most top smartphones, these are Samsung’s matrices). There is a rejection of such displays in a headache, eyes may water. It is important to emphasize that these signs should not appear after an hour of using the smartphone non-stop. Very often, problems that begin after 6-8 hours of using a smartphone are written off on PWM. And this is not true, since any smartphone used during such a time is capable of causing a headache, creates an increased burden on the eyes. Keep in mind that you need to measure the time spent with your smartphone and how much stress it puts on your body.
Reason number 8. The terrible Exynos, the beautiful Snapdragon
This is another urban myth, but it is very tenacious and akin to point number one. There are a significant number of those who believe that Samsung’s Exynos chipset is terrible, slows down, everything works very badly. But if there is a Snapdragon inside, then the smartphone starts working in a completely different way – it clings to base stations located thousands of kilometers away, works for weeks on end, somehow inspires its owner. But seriously, there is no noticeable difference between the chipsets, it is almost impossible to find differences in everyday life. But if the terrible Exynos stops you, then you can buy a smartphone destined for the United States, with no warranty, but with a beautiful chipset of the future, which has no competitor in the sublunary world.
Reason number 9. S Pen case or camera head needed
The S21 Ultra provides for the ability to use the S Pen, but there is no place in the case for the stylus, and you will also have to buy it separately (which is understandable and understandable). The protrusion of the camera is not as bad as in previous devices, but it can still hurt your clothes. Therefore, you will have to use a case that will increase the dimensions of the device, and if you choose a case for the S Pen, it will be a big book. In short, here you need to think about what you want and how.
Reason number 10. Issue price
The cost of the S21 Ultra starts at 110 thousand rubles, which for the vast majority of consumers looks much higher than the psychological threshold of 100 thousand rubles. Whether we like it or not, many buyers are not ready to pay more than a hundred thousand for a smartphone, and not so many people are willing to spend this money. This is a question of pricing, as Ultra has no direct competitors, similar devices from other manufacturers simply do not exist. But all the same, this moment cannot be ignored. The question of price will stop the majority, in some ways this point echoes the third reason, the availability of alternatives in the form of previous models, which are more than adequate today.
