Micro-Star International (MSI) has confirmed that all its Intel Z490 motherboards will receive PCIe 4.0 support with the arrival of the new 11th Gen Intel Core (Rocket Lake-S) processors. The manufacturer is going to release a new BIOS version for motherboards with corresponding functionality.
To support PCIe 4.0, motherboards must be equipped with a number of components. This list includes a clock generator PCIe 4.0, a PCI line switch and a redriver (signal amplifier), the PCIe 4.0 slot itself, as well as an M.2 slot for the ability to use NVMe drives with PCIe 4.0 support. The manufacturer indicates that all MSI Z490 motherboards are equipped with these components and allow you to take full advantage of the PCIe 4.0 bus.
The company has provided a list of motherboards and BIOS versions in which full support for PCIe 4.0 will appear:
The manufacturer also provided a screenshot of the CristalDiskInfo program, which demonstrates the operation of the Samsung 980 PRO SSD in PCIe 4.0 x4 mode on the Z490-A PRO motherboard.
