iPhone 2022 will get rid of the “bangs” – it will be replaced by a small hole, like many other smartphones

Since 2017, when Apple introduced the iPhone X, which heralded the transition to bezel-less design, the company’s smartphones have been easy to recognize thanks to the rather oversized cutout for the True Depth face-scanning system. However, soon the notorious “bangs” may be in the past.

Authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today that the 2022 iPhones could get a bezel design similar to Samsung’s flagship smartphones. It is assumed that future Apple devices will be able to boast a small round notch for the front camera. Kuo does not elaborate on whether the components required to implement Face ID will be scaled down to fit into a circular selfie camera cutout, or if Apple will offer users another way to identify their identity.

It is not yet known whether the new design will be used across the entire 2022 iPhone lineup, or if only select devices will receive it. It is likely that upcoming leaks will shed more light on this issue.
