2021, if nothing is transferred anywhere, promises to be very rich in movie releases. Loud new items will be available both on streaming services (hello HBO Max) and in regular rentals.
Naturally, everything that is being prepared for the release is simply unrealistic to remember, so we acted differently – we selected the most expected and potentially interesting that should appear on the screens in the coming year. For convenience, all pictures are arranged by release date.
Clarification: you will not find here “Monster Hunter”, “Wonder Woman: 1984” and “Fragments of a Woman” – about these and other notable films that can be watched in January, we told in our traditional material – it makes no sense to repeat.
Knights of Justice
Premiere date: February 18. Where to watch: cinemas

In the second half of February in Russia it will be possible to watch the new comedy film by Anders Thomas Jensen – “Knights of Justice”.
The protagonist Marcus loses his wife in a train accident. But he and his companions are convinced that this is a carefully planned murder. A military man, a mad mathematician and two geeks join forces to uncover the truth. Now these guys are called the Knights of Justice!
It stars Mads Mikkelsen, Nikolai Li Kaas, Gustav Lind, Roland Müller and Nicholas Bro. It turns out to be a very intriguing team.
“Tom and Jerry”
Premiere date: February 25. Where to watch: Cinemas, HBO Max

A comedy based on the popular animated series. Famous heroes from childhood will find themselves in a luxurious New York hotel, where, as expected, they will sort things out. The film involves both live actors and animation inserts.
Cherry
Premiere Date: February 26 (USA). Where to watch: Cinemas, Apple TV +

New project from the Russo brothers (the Avengers franchise) starring Tom Holland.
Cherry is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Nico Walker. In the center of the plot is a young guy who goes to serve in Iraq. After returning home with PTSD, he cannot recover and begins to take strong medications, and gradually switches to drugs. To buy them, you need money – the hero begins to rob banks.
The tape will be released in US theaters on February 26, 2021, and on March 12, it will be released on Apple TV +.
“Tread of Chaos”
Premiere date: March 5 (world). Where to watch: cinemas

Tom Holland is increasingly moving away from the role of Peter Parker and tries himself in completely different roles. At first, the actor surprised with his performance in one of the best films of 2020, “The Devil is Always Here,” and now he will appear in the film “Treads of Chaos” – an adaptation of the science fiction novel of the same name by Patrick Ness.
Holland plays the main character Todd Hewitt, who lives on the planet New World colonized by earthlings. Local residents are able to hear the thoughts of others thanks to some mysterious Noise – alas, it will not work to hide their secrets. However, there is still a place on the planet with absolute silence. Moreover, there are people who can create it.
“Trip to America 2”
Premiere date: March 5. Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video

Sequel to the cult comedy “A Trip to America” of 1988 release. The main role was played by Eddie Murphy. Craig Brewer (My Name Is Dolemite) took over the director’s chair. In the story, Crown Prince Akim from the fictional country of Zamunda returns to America to find his son.
The premiere was scheduled for December 2020, but the pandemic has made its own adjustments. Paramount Pictures sold the film rights to Amazon.
King’s Man: The Beginning
Premiere date: March (postponed to August 20). Where to watch: cinemas

The third part of the famous franchise tells about the birth of that very secret espionage organization. Era – First World War. In the center of the plot is Conrad (Harris Dickinson), the young and ambitious son of the Duke of Oxford (Ralph Fiennes), who wants to serve the good of England.
Over time, Konrad learns about an independent spy organization, whose members must prevent a catastrophe on a global scale, and is drawn into this mysterious world.
Justice League by Zach Snyder
Premiere date: March. Where to watch: HBO Max, cinemas (possibly)

In the new edition of the Justice League, the visual style will be redesigned and the original soundtrack will be restored. In addition, Snyder will return all cut scenes to the plot.
Fans will receive the movie for as much as four hours, and it will be possible to watch it on the HBO Max streaming service in two versions at once – as a whole film and as a mini-series.
“The Multiple Saints of Newark”
Premiere date: March 12 (postponed to September 24). Where to watch: Cinemas, HBO Max

The prequel to The Sopranos will be available on HBO Max. The plot will tell the background of the criminal world of New Jersey, and the action will unfold in the 1960-1970s.
Tony Soprano at the very beginning of his criminal career. Life, so to speak, is taught by Dickie Moltisanti performed by Alessandro Nivola. The role of young Tony is played by Michael Gandolfini, son of James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano in the series). The prequel script is written by Lawrence Conner and David Chase, creators of the original Sopranos. Should be at least interesting.
“Land of nomads”
Premiere date: March 11 (Russia). Where to watch: cinemas

The script is based on Jessica Bruder’s book, The Land of the Nomads: Surviving the America of the XNUMXst Century.
The main character named Fern (Frances McDormand) is going through hard times: everything is bad with work, and her husband is dead. The woman gets behind the wheel and goes on a trip around the country. On the way, she will see many remarkable places and get acquainted with a number of interesting characters – some of them are played by real nomads – not actors in the literal sense of the word.
The picture was presented last year. The film is the winner of the 77th Venice Film Festival and is likely to be nominated for an Oscar.
“No time to die”
Premiere date: April 2 (postponed to October 8). Where to watch: cinemas

James Bond has retired and lives in peace in Jamaica. Happy “old age” is interrupted when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA appears on the island asking for help. And now Bond is back in the ranks.
Daniel Craig has played the role of British special agent for the fifth time. The main villain was played by Rami Malek. Actress Lashana Lynch is here in the role of the successor of agent 007. The director was made by Carey Fukunaga (“True Detective”, “Maniac”).
Major Thunder: The Plague Doctor
Premiere date: April 8 (postponed on April 1). Where to watch: cinemas, “KinoPoisk HD”

The full-length version continues the story told in the 2017 short.
Police Major Igor Grom serves in St. Petersburg and is forced to give battle to the Plague Doctor, who accuses the city of lawlessness and begins to fight those who were once able to escape responsibility with the help of power and money.
Major Grom is played by Tikhon Zhiznevsky. The producer of the film is Artyom Gabrelyanov, the founder of the Bubble Comics publishing house, which released the original comic strip.
“Mortal Kombat”
Premiere date: April 15. Where to watch: Cinemas, HBO Max

Another major release that will be released both in movies and online.
The new film adaptation promises to show the familiar from the games of the series of heroes, as well as to be more realistic and bloody than its predecessors. In addition, the filmmakers promise to show the finishing touches of Fatality on the big screen for the first time.

The film by Antoine Fuqua is based on the novel by D. Eric Meykranz “The Reincarnationalist Dossier”.
“Fast and Furious 9”

Another part of the popular franchise, which turns 20 this year.
In the story, Dominic Torreto lives a peaceful life with his wife Letty and illegitimate son Brian. However, this harmony is disrupted when cyber terrorist Cypher decides to take revenge on Dominic for all his failures that occurred through his fault. Now Torreto and his team set off on a trip around the world to deal with enemies from the past.
Michelle Rodriguez promised that Fast and Furious 9 will definitely impress the audience with her stunts. The new part is a new portion of madness, the fans will be delighted.
Cruella
Premiere date: May 27. Where to watch: Cinemas, Disney +

Cruella de Ville, the main villain in the 101 Dalmatians universe, received a solo film that tells the story of her formation.
The villainess was played by the beauty Emma Stone: black and white hairstyle, bright makeup and three Dalmatians on a leash – everything is as it should be.
The Conjuring 3: By the Will of the Devil

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are once again in the role of spouses Ed and Lorraine Warren, trying to investigate the paranormal.
The plot was based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson: in 1981, Arne killed his landlord, but for the first time in the history of American legal proceedings, the defense argued that the accused was possessed by a demon. Lorraine will be forced to sort out this strange story.
Ghostbusters: Heirs

Egon Spengler’s grandchildren move to the late grandfather’s farm and find many interesting and even cult objects there. Soon they are faced with an inexplicable force, which means that it’s time to revive the “Hunters”.
Judging by the first shots, the new film will be reminiscent of Stranger Things and It (starring Finn Wolfard) in spirit, and that’s not bad at all. However, whether in the end the authors will succeed in a worthy continuation of the great franchise or will there be another unattainable nonsense, is an open question.
“Venom: Let There Be Carnage”
Premiere date: June 24. Where to watch: cinemas

Continuation of the adventures of the superhero Venom, played by Tom Hardy again.
In the second part, the main opponent of Venom should be the serial killer Cletus Cassady (Woody Harrelson), the owner of another symbiote, Carnage. He is assisted by the insane supervillain Screech (Naomi Harris). Together they will create chaos and devastation.
Perhaps in the post-credits scene, viewers will see Spider-Man played by Tom Holland. Earlier, producer Amy Pascal said that Holland’s and Hardy’s characters would appear in each other’s solo films.
Top Gun: Maverick

If you remember, in 1986 the cult air blockbuster “The Best Shooter” was released with the then young Tom Cruise in the title role, filmed by the late director Tony Scott. So, Top Gun: Maverick is a direct sequel.

“Old”

New work of the director M. Night Shyamalan, who is known for such projects as “Invincible”, “Split” and “House with a Servant.”
The Old is a thriller, based on the French graphic novel The Sand Castle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederic Peters, in which thirteen strangers are trapped in time on a mysterious beach.
Suicide Squad: Mission Kick Through

In the new “Suicide Squad” only Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Rick Flagg (Yuel Kinnaman) remained from the old team. They will be joined by Polka Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Shark King (Steve Agee), Peacemaker (John Cena) and Pied Piper (Daniela Melsior).
The new team is supposed to have to deal with an ambitious and charismatic villain, General Luna. Well, James Gunn will stage the whole thing.
Death on the Nile

In the new part, the need to investigate a mysterious murder, distracted from his own vacation, overtakes Hercule Poirot on board a luxury cruise ship along the Nile. There are a lot of suspects among the passengers of the ship, and each of them had their own motive for the crime.

“Dune”

We hope that the long-awaited adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel will still be released in September.
I really want to know how the talented director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) managed to transfer to the big screens the story of the difficult fate of Paul Atreides, a young heir to a noble family who finds himself in the midst of cruel political intrigues.
Mission: Impossible 7
Premiere date: November 18. Where to watch: cinemas

Another part of the Ethan Hunt spy franchise. The question arises, what else can surprise Tom Cruise and his team? Well, at least new tricks. Then the actor drove along the springboard on a motorcycle and jumped into the quarry with a parachute.
Mission: Impossible 7 was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who directed the previous two films. The main cast is also in place.
“The main character”

The character Guy (Ryan Reynolds) is an employee of a large bank. Everything goes on with him until one day it turns out that the world around him is just a video game, where players can do whatever they want. Guy does not want to put up with this and decides to change everything, and at the same time save this world from complete destruction.
The plot of the film is intriguing, and the implementation should not disappoint. Well, Ryan Reynolds in the title role is also a plus.
Spider-Man 3

Tom Holland will play Peter Parker for the third time, and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who replaced the deceased Iron Man, will become the new mentor of the young superhero.

The new film will continue the events of the original. Anthony McCoy, the boy in the first film, grew up to be an artist, but the nightmares from the past have not gone away.
The script was written by Jordan Peel. Cast: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyona Parris and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.
Sherlock Holmes 3

The unpredictable detective Sherlock Holmes and his best friend Dr. Watson return after nine years. That’s all that is currently known about the script for the film.
According to rumors, in the third film, the genius detective and his partner will go to the Wild West, and the main scene will be San Francisco.
The main roles here, as in the first two parts of the franchise, will be played by Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes) and Jude Law (Dr. Watson). Dexter Fletcher (“The Rocketman”) took the director’s chair.

In addition to the new “Spider-Man” and “Venom”, and a whole bunch of TV series, fans of the MCU will have several notable premieres. In 2021, Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and The Eternals are due out.
Hopefully, these are the final release dates and there will be no more postponements.
