Nhenhophach, an enthusiast who specializes in assembling custom personal computers, has assembled a modified PlayStation 5. He equipped it with liquid cooling and a new case with a futuristic styling. In the future, the enthusiast plans to arrange the supply of his version of the console so that anyone can purchase it.
The assembly of a liquid-cooled PS5 is shown in the video below. First, Nhenhophach and his partner disassembled the console into components. Then they combined it with a liquid cooling system developed and created in-house. Note that water blocks are responsible for removing heat not only from the hybrid processor (CPU + GPU), but also from the power elements of the power supply circuits, memory chips and other components. The water block is connected to a thin copper radiator. A special case was developed for custom LSS. It has a futuristic feel and has an unusual shape on the outer panels.
The third stage was the full assembly of the device, and the fourth was the testing of temperature indicators. Under load, the components of the modified PlayStation 5 reached an average of 52-53 degrees Celsius. In addition, Nhenhophach conducted a thermal imaging to demonstrate the console’s heating in more detail.
In his videos, the enthusiast also stated: “This is only the first liquid-cooled PS5 version, there will be more versions. We continue to prepare for [production of] the commercial version. “… Apparently, Nhenhophach plans to achieve even better performance and start selling its own version of the Sony set-top box.
