The Games Industry portal shared information on the sales of retail editions of games in the UK from 14 to 20 March 2021. The week marked the appearance on the Hades chart.
The mythological roguelike action from Supergiant Games came out of Early Access on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and debuted on Nintendo Switch back in September 2020, but only now received a physical edition.
Despite the relatively old age (more than six months already), the retail release on only one platform (Switch) and the extremely limited time to demonstrate the result (the new edition was released on March 19), Hades managed to climb to the seventh line.
The leader of the previous week in the face of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales lost 60% in sales and fell back to third place, leaving Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (in that order) ahead.
The next return of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to the top of the rankings was not prevented by a 7% drop in results – the remaster of Super Mario 3D World “sank” even more (by 19%).
Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville returned to # 775 with a release on Nintendo Switch and a 40% increase in sales, while Marvel’s Avengers made it to # 26 as a result of the PS5 premiere.
The top 10 UK retail charts for March 14-20 are as follows (last week’s result is shown in parentheses):
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3);
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (2);
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (1);
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4);
- Grand Theft Auto V (7);
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (6);
- Hades (new);
- Minecraft (5);
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars (9);
- Minecraft Dungeons (16).
