Studio Hinterland has announced that The Long Dark, an action-adventure, survival game, has sold 5 million copies. In addition, she told how many people played it in the Epic Games Store (the project was handed out for free) and in the Xbox Game Pass.
As it turned out, the total in the Xbox Game Pass and Epic Games Store (after the distribution of The Long Dark as part of the Christmas promotion) the figure was 3,5 million “Active” players. It turns out that currently the number of gamers involved in the project is more than 8,5 million.
The team is currently working on the fourth episode of The Long Dark, which includes new locations and gameplay mechanics. The development stage has reached a stage when the episode can already be fully completed – there are a couple of small areas left to finish. After that, Hinterland will move on to refinement, testing and optimization. In addition, the script for the fifth episode has already been written.
In addition, the studio posted a poll in which it wants to know how the players want to see the fifth episode. This will help shape Hinterland’s future plans.
The Long Dark is a survival simulator with a story campaign divided into episodes. The protagonist in a global catastrophe survived a plane crash in Canada and is trying to realize the scale of the disaster. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
