Samsung Electronics has entered into a partnership with drone company Manna, which will enable it to deliver goods in Ireland as quickly as possible. Initially, residents of Oranmore will be able to take advantage of this opportunity, who bought Samsung devices in the company’s online store. But in the future, the company plans to carry out delivery by drones throughout Ireland.
Manna drones are capable of speeds up to 60 km / h. This means it will take approximately 3 minutes to deliver goods to the residents of Oranmore under favorable weather conditions.
It should be added that not all Samsung products will be delivered using drones. Customers of the latest Galaxy S and Galaxy A smartphones, Galaxy Tab S tablets, Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatches and Galaxy Buds Pro wireless headphones will be able to use this service.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, online shopping with drone delivery is an attractive contactless alternative to existing online shopping systems, some of which still require users to pick up their purchases in person.
In this regard, the residents of Oranmore are lucky, as the largest UK retail chain Tesco, which also uses Manna drones for this, is already testing drone delivery here. Similar drone delivery pilot projects are also underway in other regions of the world. In the United States, air delivery is being tested by retailers Walmart and Amazon, while in Australia, the TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacy retailer will deliver drugs by drones.
