IGN has exclusively unveiled a new trailer for the co-op action RPG Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance from developers at Tuque Games and Wizards of the Coast.
The aforementioned video lasts a little over a minute and is dedicated to Hagedorn – a version of the evil eye known from the fantasy universe (he is also an observer, beholder and contemplator) created especially for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.
In tabletop Dungeons & Dragons, each eye of the beholder has its own ability. In Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, due to technical limitations, it was impossible to give all eyes independent animation.
“As a result, we chose the most interesting effects from a gameplay point of view and used the central eye as a guide for all of Hagedorn’s skills.”– explained Kevin Neibert, lead game designer at Tuque Games.
The battle against Hagedorn takes place in his lair. According to Neubert, the arena consists of a central platform and an outer ring that begins to disintegrate as the battle progresses.
“I think Hagedorn is the most interesting boss in Dark Alliance, and I’m proud of the team of talented artists, programmers, animators, visual effects and sound designers who helped bring [this character] to life.”Neubert added.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will go on sale on June 22 this year for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. Pre-orders opened shortly after the release date was announced.
