The pandemic has had a huge impact on the information technology market. While many IT sectors have been hit by the spread of the coronavirus, some have benefited. The latter included the segment of products and services for unified communications and collaboration (Unified Communications & Collaboration, UC&C).
The International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that the UC&C industry has grown rapidly in the last quarter and 2020 as a whole. This is explained by the fact that users around the world in the conditions of remote work and distance learning required effective tools for interaction.
По оценкам, в период с октября по декабрь включительно выручка в обозначенном секторе достигла $13,1 млрд. Это на внушительные 29,2 % больше по сравнению с последним кварталом 2019-го.
At the end of 2020, the overall market volume amounted to $ 47,2 billion, which corresponds to an increase of 24,9% compared to the previous year. In other words, against the backdrop of the pandemic, UC&C costs jumped by a quarter.
More than a third of the global UC&C market at the end of 2020 was occupied by Microsoft with a 34,2% share. In second place is Cisco with a result of 10,5%. But the top three is closed by Zoom, which received a share of 5,5%. Next are Avaya and RingCentral – 2,6% and 1,9%, respectively. Thus, these five companies control more than half of the global UC&C industry.
