According to the authors of the scientific article, in 45% of cases, blood sampling causes discomfort in patients due to problems with access to the veins.
The new system of scientists is, in fact, a scanner. The development is based on neural networks. The algorithm is capable of detecting the patient’s vasculature. The device then projects the venous pattern as an image onto the patient’s arm. However, the system can be applied to other parts of the body as well.
During the experiments, the participants placed their hand under the device, which in less than a second found a vein and projected it onto the patient’s forearm.
