Research company Techno System Research has released statistics on the global market for interchangeable-lens cameras: mirrorless and SLR models are taken into consideration.
Last year, an estimated 5,65 million of these types of devices were sold globally. Among them, 3,26 million were mirrorless models, another 2,39 million were mirrors.
In the segment of mirrorless devices, Sony is the leader with 1,15 million of these cameras delivered during the year. Canon comes next with 1,05 million cameras. It is also noted that Nikon showed the result of about 250 thousand units.
Thus, the three named companies control approximately three quarters of the mirrorless camera industry. The rest was divided among themselves by Fujifilm, Leica, Panasonic, Olympus, Sigma, etc.
Canon takes the lead in the DSLR sector with 1,71 million units shipped last year. Nikon is on the second place with the result of about 650 thousand units.
