Razer unveils Onyx – DAC with amplifier for smartphones and computers

Razer has announced the Onyx, a compact digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with amplifier designed to improve sound quality on mobile platforms and personal computers.

The novelty uses THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA) technology. It provides the highest definition audio picture with minimal noise and distortion. This achieves high energy efficiency.

Another feature of Onyx is the Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology, which is responsible for the formation of studio-quality sound with the transfer of all the details of the original recording.

The device connects to a computer or smartphone via the USB Type-C port; The kit also includes an adapter with a USB Type-A connector. A standard 3,5 mm jack is used to connect headphones.

The design includes an ESS ES9281PRO digital-to-analog converter. The declared dynamic range is 118 dB. It talks about compatibility with Android, iOS, Windows 10 and macOS platforms.

The Razer Onyx is priced at $ 200.
