The collective complaint says Apple has exaggerated the water resistance of its iPhones. The company claims that starting with the iPhone 11, all models are IP68 water resistant. This means that smartphones have to withstand immersion to a depth of more than a meter for up to 30 minutes. However, in reality, users are void of the warranty for any water ingress into the iPhone case. In addition, there is a liquid contact indicator inside the smartphone, which signals the employee of the service center about getting into the water.
Plaintiffs are demanding that Apple stop advertising waterproof smartphones and pay damages and costs.
The company has previously been accused and even fined for the same reasons.
