Starting with Windows 8.1, a group of folders was added to This computer: Videos, Downloads, Music, Documents, Pictures, Desktop. In today’s article, we’ll show you how to remove them without editing the registry.
Earlier, we described how to delete folders from this computer in Windows 10. In it, we offered to run a file to edit the registry so that the folders disappear. In today’s article, we will remove folders from this computer using the OldNewExplorer utility.
Remove folders from this Windows 10 PC
Download the OldNewExplorer utility: go down the page and click on the link next to the Download word.
This utility is small in size, 271KB and does not require installation, and also does not display ads and does not install anything superfluous, and it is free. Also with its help you can not only remove icons from “This PC”, you can also:
- change the style of the system;
- restore information at the bottom of the explorer;
- restore disk grouping in Explorer;
- hide the title text in the explorer window;
And a couple more little things in setting the view of the explorer are available in OldNewExplorer.
Unpack the downloaded archive and run the file OldNewExplorerCfg.exe => in the window that opens, click Install
To the question “Allow this application to make changes on your device” – click “Yes”.
Now when the Install button becomes inactive and only Uninstall will be active => check the box “Use libraries; hide folders from This PC ”
You don’t need to restart your computer to see that there are no folders on this computer anymore! They can also be returned by simply unchecking the checkbox.
