Two teens arrested on attempted murder charge after stabbing at Warwick University

Students living at the accommodation block, which was initially evacuated, claimed a dispute over a love affair had led to the violence and may have involved someone who did not study at Warwick.

The attack is believed to have taken place inside one of the flats, with security being alerted when the victim was heard screaming by other residents.

Footage circulating on social media showed armed officers marching up a flight of stairs and entering one of the corridors in the 794-room block.

Shortly afterwards, police can be seen leading an individual in handcuffs towards a marked vehicle.

A spokesman for University of Warwick said: “We want to reassure those concerned by a continued police presence around Sherbourne that there is no danger to students or staff.

“We can confirm an incident has taken place that has since concluded.

“Police officers remain on site as part of an investigation following the incident, as do members of Warwick staff.”
