It’s a car that may seem easy to dismiss today. One that seems little more than an anachronistic blip on Jaguar’s CV, but don’t be too hasty to think that. Despite the naysayers, that styling is aging quite nicely, and when you consider how much car you can get for the money it seems almost indecent value.
Put your gambling boots on and you’ll find examples at under £1,000, but spend two to three times that and you’ll bag something much nicer; even the £10,000 required for a cherished low-miler hardly seems outrageous.
Naturally, it’s not all roses. There’s the spectre of penny-pinching former owners to contend with, while corrosion and frustrating electrical silliness can also rear their heads. So you’ll need to buy carefully, but when all the neglected ones have gone, those that are left are going to have the stamp of classic Jaguar all over them.
