The low-pressure system will strike the UK on Tuesday 15 February and the highest winds are due to whip across the country in the middle of the week.

Forecasters have predicted gusts of up to 90mph in Scotland, and 70mph winds further south and in the Midlands. There is potential for severe disruption to traffic and travel networks as well as power cuts, falling trees and flying debris.

To add to matters, Storm Eunice is expected to join Dudley on Friday 18 February – potentially bringing snow and blizzard conditions across northern England, areas of Scotland, Northern Ireland and north Wales.

Stormy conditions are set to continue throughout the week up until Sunday 20 February, with many parts of the UK facing downpours. At least five inches of rain is predicted to fall in the west of the country, with slightly lighter showers in the Midlands and towards the east.

There is even expected to be some snowfall in the north at times.

Storm Dudley would be Britain’s fourth named storm this winter, with Eunice taking fifth place.
