An Albanian garage worker has pleaded guilty to murdering a primary school teacher yards from her home, a court has heard.
Sabina Nessa, 28, was on her way to meet a friend in a bar when she was attacked and killed as she walked through a park in Kidbrooke, south-east London, in September last year.
Her body was found hidden in bushes by a dog walker the next day and a widespread manhunt was launched by the Metropolitan Police to find her killer.
“Predatory” Koci Selamaj, who moved to the UK from Albania, was arrested eight days after the random attack and charged with her murder.
On Friday, the Albanian national pleaded guilty to murder after previously denying the charge.
CCTV footage captured the moment Selamaj swiftly overwhelmed Ms Nessa by repeatedly striking her with a 2ft long weapon believed to be a traffic triangle, before carrying her away unconscious.
It is alleged that Selamaj then strangled her in undergrowth in what was suspected to be a sexually-motivated attack.
The body of Ms Nessa, who taught a year one class at Rushey Green Primary School in Catford, was found nearly 24 hours later covered with grass near a community centre in the park.
