“We cannot rewrite the history of the Holocaust, a genocide that was also committed on Ukrainian soil.
“This war is terrible, but comparing it to the horrors of the Holocaust and the Final Solution is outrageous,” Mr Hendel said, while also voicing support for Ukrainians.
Earlier on Sunday, Mr Zelensky ordered that activities of 11 political parties with links to Russia be suspended in Ukraine.
The largest of them is the Opposition Platform for Life, which has 44 out of 450 seats in the country’s parliament. The party is led by Viktor Medvedchuk, who has friendly ties with Vladimir Putin, who is the godfather of Medvedchuk’s daughter.
Speaking in a video address, he said that “given a large-scale war unleashed by the Russian Federation and links between it and some political structures, the activities of a number of political parties is suspended for the period of the martial law”.
Separately, Kyiv claimed that assassins from the Kremlin-linked Wagner Group had entered Ukraine again with orders to kill Mr Zelensky and his leadership team.
