Elaine Bredehoft, representing Ms Heard, said: “He started dragging her by her hair through the apartment, kicking her, punching her, tearing her hair out. She stands up and he headbutts her, and she gets two black eyes.

“He put her on the bed and put his foot and knee in her back. He says he’s ‘f—— going to kill her.'”

The force was such that the bed frame splintered, she said.

Ms Bredehoft added: “She’s suffocating in the pillow, she totally believes she’s going to die on this one. She wakes up to her friend being there.”

The next day, Ms Heard went on James Corden’s chat show but was able to use makeup to disguise the bruises to her face, Ms Bredehoft said.

Ms Bredehoft also said Mr Depp had an “enormous amount of rage” and was “like a demon”.

The lawyer also claimed that Mr Depp “penetrated her (Ms Heard) with a liquor bottle”.

Ms Bredehoft said Mr Depp ripped off Ms Heard’s nightgown, threw bottles at her, and then dragged her across the broken glass, punched her and kicked her.

She said: “He’s pounding at her, pounding at her, and then he penetrates her with a liquor bottle.”

Abuse began in 2011, lawyers claim

It was claimed that Mr Depp first hit Ms Heard early in their relationship, in 2011, slapping her repeatedly, and so hard she was knocked off a sofa, her face ending up on the “dirty carpet”.

Her lawyers claimed Mr Depp then started crying as he told Ms Heard: “I thought I had put the monster away forever.”

At her 30th birthday party Mr Depp was alleged to have grabbed her mobile phone and “bashed it into Amber’s face”.

On a trip to Australia she was subjected to a “three day hostage situation” as Mr Depp took up to 10 ecstasy tablets, it was claimed.

Ms Heard’s lawyers claimed she stayed with Mr Depp because she thought she could “fix” him.

They claimed he was pursuing the defamation case against her because he was “obsessed” with “destroying” her.

In 2020 Mr Depp lost a separate, high-profile libel case in London after The Sun newspaper called him a “wife beater”. 

Benjamin Rottenborn, representing Ms Heard, said: “For years all Mr Depp has wanted to do is humiliate and haunt her, wreck her career.

“He is an obsessed ex-husband hell bent on revenge.”
