Meizu Flow – tearing the packaging, listening furiously!

There is nothing to be surprised, the Meizu company once upon a time started with MP3 players, now the company also has something to be proud of in terms of audio, high-quality sound is a feature of smartphones, there are sports headphones, now there are plug-in premium ones. After the presentation, I can not wait to tear the packaging furiously and listen no less furiously, I will do all this now, literally in front of you.

We’re tearing up the packaging!

The packaging was a little wrinkled on the road, but, in general, everything is like expensive models – the price of Meizu Flow in Russia is still unknown, they say that it’s like $ 90 dollars, 5,000 rubles, but this is still inaccurate. Two versions, silver and black, the silver model looks much cooler.

By the way, Ilya seemed to promise to make a video and show the unboxing live. There is still cardboard under the cardboard, the upper part with the headphones is removed, the nozzles are laid out neatly, there is a case and an adapter for the aircraft, it will not be superfluous.

On the back, all the chips of the headphones are listed, so that it is immediately clear what’s what. Thus, we tear out the headphones and start listening sharply paired with Meizu 7 Pro!

Characteristics!

But, first, let’s look at the characteristics of the model and in general, why did we suddenly decide to talk about Meizu Flow in detail.

Frequency response: 10Hz – 30kHz
Impedance: 52 Ohm
Sensitivity: 100 dB
Power: 6mW

For a portable model, the characteristics are good, they showed a graph at the presentation so as not to torment you, I must also say that everything is there as it should be, God bless.

What did Meizu do with sound? Everything is very complicated, in addition to the traditional “armature”, when two drivers responsible for high and medium frequencies work at once in a small case, another bass radiator has been added. Yes, yes, there are already similar models, but everything depends very much on how the headphones were tested and set up, what kind of components are there, whether they are of high quality or not.

You can remember Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Pro with three drivers and a host of other models on the market, maybe not so well known to the general public. Why should you pay attention to three-driver models?

Because the design allows you to cope with the most complex music when used with ordinary smartphones – and at the same time, Flow is quite open to experimenting with DACs, third-party players with DSD support, the headphones performed well with a laptop, I’ll say right away. But, in addition to the three drivers, there are other features.

Convenience

At the presentation, they said that serious internal resources were attracted to the creation of Meizu Flow, and employees from outside, allegedly, employees of the Chinese Academy of Sciences took part in the development, and the Japanese designer Ping Jing Hao was engaged in the exterior. I must say that in China they love everything Japanese and this is a kind of quality mark.

The shape of the headphones was chosen based on the ergonomic characteristics of a wide variety of people, the idea is that you do not feel the Flow when worn for a long time. I’ve only listened to the model for about two hours so far, the thin body sits securely in place, does not pop out, the shape is well chosen. There is a lot of metal in the design, aluminum cups, near the 3.5 mm plug, we also see metal on the remote control.

The remote control has three buttons, it is easy to find it without even looking. Aluminum “pores”, visible even from afar, are just for beauty. The cable is of high quality, it will be difficult to break it, it is reinforced with Kevlar, the rubber band around the plug bends easily. And even a small tie that allows you to adjust the length of the cable is enclosed in a miniature metal casing!

Sound

I listened in tandem with Meizu 7 Pro, downloaded a few FLAC albums and let’s go. I chose this source not by chance, for sure the future owners of Meizu Flow will use smartphones as the main music devices. Tried jazz, techno, house, pop, that’s what I noticed.

With jazz, it seems that these are not plug-in, but overhead headphones, voluminous! With techno, the third transducer comes into play and the bass here is just as it should be, bright, accurate, juicy hits on the eardrum without losing all the other bells and whistles in the track, if any. Pop music is just nice to listen to, there are no questions about vocal reproduction.

I would be glad to hear the opinion of audiophiles, but, listen to a person through whose hands dozens of headphones pass a month, Meizu Flow is spared the main drawback, traditional fittings, namely mediocre low-frequency transmission. Everything here is very good and furious.

Buy or not buy?

We will cost 5,000 rubles – one of the most interesting models for smartphones in its category. We set up the headphones with great love, the design and ergonomics of Meizu Flow make a very pleasant impression, it’s just nice to pick up and, as it turned out, very pleasant to listen to.

Noticed cons – I advise you to immediately replace the nozzles with Comply and try to try it on before buying, listen for at least 15 minutes with different music. You will surely like the sound, but I wonder how Chinese small cases behave in Russian auricles; I can listen calmly and without pain for hours, I gave Flow to a friend to try, he could not stand it for ten minutes.

Well, one more note – it would be nice to immediately make wireless Meizu Flow and not invent it already. In the yard of 2017, sales of Bluetooth devices are going up and somehow it’s no longer comme il faut to show the device, albeit with a quality one, but with a cable.
