Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova recorded an appeal in Russian to soldiers and commanders of the Russian army.
She called on the Russian military to stop the war in Ukraine and lay down their arms.
Chaputov’s appeal was published on Twitter.
She called the war in Ukraine “unwanted” and started “without any reason.” Chaputova stressed that no one threatened the Russians and did not want to harm, “but you do the harm.”
“Today we cry over the testimonies of women who tell about horrors that until recently we could not even imagine. I see the faces of dozens of women, children, civilians in terrible pain. I see before me the souls of people forever scarred by suffering,” – said the President of Slovakia, speaking about the atrocities of the Russians in Bucha and other Ukrainian cities.
Chaputova criticized the Russians who justify the invasion of Ukraine with words about “liberation”.
“But what did you want to ‘free’ Tatiana from Irpen, who was killed with her two children by a Russian grenade? When they were just running down the street, which was supposed to be part of a safe corridor. Or Alina from Gostomel, who was raped by one of you in a car? She didn’t even scream because there was no one around to help her.She thought only of one thing: how to survive. What did you “liberate” old Vera from a small village from, who could be the mother of a soldier who grabbed her by the throat like that that she began to suffocate, and then raped her,” says the head of Slovakia.
Zuzana Chaputova believes that the Russian military has lost officer honor and military discipline.
“Russian soldiers and commanders and everyone it concerns: if you still feel at least the remnants of humanity in yourself, revive it and end this terrible war. After all, every day you only increase the army of wounded souls and bodies of women, children and innocent people. To hurt the defenseless is a manifestation of the greatest weakness, “she summed up.
With its invasion of #Ukraine , #Russia has brought suffering & pain as the number of victims of sexual violence continues to grow. No war is a justification for such crimes. I appeal to Russia’s soldiers & their superiors to put an end to their violence. pic.twitter.com/AHkFxBtckz
