DNS returned to the top three largest online retailers in Russia

The retail network DNS, which specializes in the sale of computer, digital and household appliances, in 2021 increased sales on the Internet by 41% to 185 billion rubles, the Vedomosti resource reported . Thanks to this, DNS came in third place in the ranking of the largest online retailers prepared by the analytical company Data Insight at the end of the year, ahead of the Citilink network, which increased sales by 24% to 163.4 billion rubles. The representative of Citilink specified that the company’s turnover increased by 26% in annual terms and reached 175 billion rubles.

The last time DNS rose to third place in the ranking was in 2017. The market leaders are still Wildberries, which doubled its sales to RUB 805.7 billion, and Ozon, whose sales grew 2.3 times to RUB 446.7 billion.

Sales of the 100 largest online retailers in Russia amounted to a total of 3.4 trillion rubles. which is 1.6 times more than in 2020. The total number of orders increased by 2.2 times to 1.59 billion.

According to Data Insight partner Boris Ovchinnikov, Internet sales grew mainly in small cities, there is no high competition, and the DNS network is widely represented. He added that the geography of the retailer is much wider. Mikhail Burmistrov, General Director of Infoline Analytics, specified that the retailer has 2,789 outlets in more than 1,000 Russian cities, which is 20% more than in the previous year (Citilink has 1,000 warehouse stores and pick-up points in 500 Russian cities) . The selling space of DNS also increased by 22% to 1.34 million m2 , including through dark stores for collecting goods on delivery.

According to the Data Insight rating, the largest annual sales growth in 2021 was demonstrated by Yandex.Food (+858% to RUB 11.5 billion), Lenta (+812% to RUB 10 billion), Perekrestok (+ 658% to RUB 12 billion), Kazanexpress (+558% to RUB 8.6 billion), Rigla (+375% to RUB 7.14 billion).
