Kyocera is one of the strangest smartphone manufacturers out there. Over the past year, she managed to release several mid-range 5G phones, one of which stood out for surprisingly bad cameras , a phone with an infrared port for data transfer , and also participated in the creation of a G-Shock-style clamshell and ultra-compact Balmuda Phone . Yesterday the company introduced a couple more interesting devices. One of them is another model on the Snapdragon 480, only this time as part of the Android One program. We were as surprised as you to learn that it still exists.

Other features of the Kyocera Android One S9 include a 6.1″ IPS screen with Full HD+ resolution, a dual rear camera (16MP + 16MP wide), an 8MP front camera, and a 4500mAh battery. There is NFC support. In addition, traditionally for Japanese smartphones, a high class of protection is offered: IP68 from water and dust MIL-STD-810G from other possible adversities. In addition, according to Kyocera, the phone case has bactericidal properties, and is also resistant to washing with liquid soap and alcohol-containing sanitizers, which makes its preferred in an ongoing pandemic. To be fair, viruses do not respond to germicidal materials.
Updated Kyocera and a line of smartphones for the older generation. The novelty, called Kantan Sumaho 2+, also received all the protective and bactericidal properties. But it is more interesting in design: the company has supplied a 5.6″ AMOLED screen with HD+ resolution and placed three hardware buttons below it, which made the novelty very elongated. Its dimensions are 159 x 71 mm. From the point of view of other characteristics, everything is simple: 3 GB RAM, 32 GB of storage, MediaTek Helio A22, 3300 mAh battery, 13 MP main camera, 5 MP front camera and Android 12 out of the box. This smartphone does not support NFC, which is very unusual for devices of Japanese origin.
