FreeBuds lite is a simplified version of HUAWEI’s FreeBuds TWS headset . The design of the headphones has not changed and the main difference is inside. Instead of armature drivers, dynamic ones are now used, and instead of Type-C as a charging connector on the microUSB case. Of course, the price has also gone down. But what about the sound? More on this later.

Design – no major changes
FreeBuds lite are an exact copy of the original model. The earbuds themselves cannot be distinguished from each other, and the only detail that separates them is the connector on the charging case. Design, body materials – nothing has changed. Like the older model, FreeBuds lite is sold in two colors – black and white. I have no complaints about practicality, neither prints nor scratches on the white case are visible.
The convenience of use
That the case, that the headphones are made of plastic and all these elements are quite light. The headphones themselves are comfortable, but it all depends on the structure of your auricle. They fit me well, but throughout the use I had the feeling that they could easily fall out of my ears, especially while running. Although the body of the case is glossy, there are almost no traces of use on the white color. But it is really difficult to open it with one hand, this drawback has migrated from the original model.
Functionality
Fortunately, a number of “magic” features did not go under cat. For example, when opening the case, the headphones automatically connect to the smartphone. Also, an infrared sensor is built into each module, which stops music playback if one of the headphones is removed from the ear. Touch control has not gone anywhere either. True, as in FreeBuds, it is quite basic. So, double-clicking on the right earpiece performs the function of play / pause, and on the left – launching the voice assistant. The volume will already have to be adjusted from the smartphone.
Sound quality
The use of other drivers also affected the sound, not for the better. But to begin with, the headphones sound different when connected to different sound sources. I tested FreeBuds Lite with Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, Nokia 9 and iPhone 6s. Worst of all, the headphones sounded with Mi Mix 2s – “sand” in the highs, poor detail and lack of bass. More or less the result was with Nokia 9 and iPhone 6s. The sound, in general, is not bad, there is a noticeable bass, which was not enough in the original version of FreeBuds, here it is more. Highs cannot be called particularly detailed, but there is no noticeable mess either. Again, depending on the source. There is no declared support for the AAC codec, only SBC.
During use, I periodically had disconnections between the headphones and for this I had to put them in the case and get it back. The quality of speech transmission can be called conditionally good. “Conditionally” because speech is transmitted well only in silence and with good communication. But all interlocutors often complained about the echo. In this regard, the original FreeBuds model was noticeably better.
autonomy
The battery built into the headphones is enough for 3 hours of music playback. At medium volume, I got about the same. The built-in battery in the case is enough for three charges, that is, you can listen to music for 12 hours with shutdowns every 3 hours.
