During today’s press conference, Samsung confirmed previously available information that now all of its top smartphones will receive not three, but four Android updates. Later, this was confirmed by a press release, and at the same time, a clarification was received on which gadgets will live longer. The list includes all of today’s debutants (three Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8, announced in early 2022 Galaxy S21 FE on Snapdragon 888, as well as all the flagships of the past year: Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3.
“Now millions of users can enjoy security innovations, performance and exciting new features for longer,” Samsung said in a statement. The only limitation is that the terms may differ depending on the model. Samsung also promised to expand this program, but that’s another story. Note that the Galaxy S22 and Tab S8 received Android 12 and One UI 4.1 out of the box, that is, they will live up to and including Android 16. How will competitors respond?
