Ukrainian singer Oksana Bilozir did not remain silent and reacted to Olya Polyakova’s comment that “now is not the time to arrange a showdown.”
On her Facebook page, Bilozir left a new post in which she told the story of her composition “Svicha”, which, according to her, “is impudently re-sung without regard to copyright, intellectual property rights and the life lived by the artist in her songs.”
“War, you say? So this war did not start in 2014, as someone thinks … And for 20 years now, to convince the world to recognize the Holodomor in Ukraine, caused by the Stalinist regime (1932-33, 1947-1949) as a genocide of the Ukrainian people! Back then, since 2005, it was difficult for President Viktor Yushchenko to raise this topic, even for Ukrainians! Ukrainian poet Bogdan Stelmakh and the legendary Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skorik, so that the world-famous masterpiece of world classical music “Melodiya” becomes a requiem song “Svicha”, a song that cried out longing for millions of Ukrainians who were starved to death on fertile land!” Bilozir emphasized.

The artist wonders how it was possible from her requiem song “Svicha” to “take away the content (poems), change the words to “Lullaby” and carry it into the world”:
“We don’t need to be rocked, we need to know the whole truth about the enemy, our history, in order to understand that we, the fifth generation of Ukrainians, are fighting the last battle for Ukraine! Each of us who has not left Ukraine is aware of this! Maybe there, in France, away from the war, there is no time to read the history of your people, maybe emotions can somehow attach to the suffering of your people, it can be difficult to extract a decent song in Ukrainian from your repertoire? , Ukrainians are wise and strong, today they protect your future, madam, with their blood,” Bilozir addressed Polyakova.
Recall that the conflict between the artists began when Oksana Bilozir accused Olya Polyakova of having covered Skorik’s “Melody”, known as “Svicha” performed by Bilozir – dedicated to the genocide of Ukrainians due to the Holodomor. Like, it’s not nice to steal other people’s songs. In turn, Polyakova replied to Bilozir that she “does not have copyright to the music of Miroslav Skorik.” Polyakova then reminded Bilozir that she was involved “in some kind of illegal unfinished construction” and wished her colleague “to deal with the courts.”
