Last week it became known that Xiaomi underestimated the performance of its smartphones in the same way that Samsung did with the infamous gaming services (GOS) . This was reported by enthusiasts who experimentally confirmed the drop in results by 30% in single-core and 15% in multi-core tests. A week later, the company decided to issue an official comment, in which it acknowledged “the use of thermal management strategies.” They are designed to provide an optimal experience with the product, especially with heavy applications.
At the same time, the company did not specify whether this applies to all of its smartphones or whether this is a limitation for premium models with powerful and hot hardware. It is also unknown whether Xiaomi plans to implement the option to disable these “strategies” in the same way as Samsung did in One UI 4.1. The full text of Xiaomi’s statement is below:
“Xiaomi applies thermal management strategies to ensure optimal product experience, especially with resource-intensive applications that are often used for long periods of time. We offer three performance modes on many of our devices, allowing users to fine-tune the balance between performance and energy efficiency. At the system level, all application performance optimizations take into account many important factors such as power consumption, performance and thermal impact.”
