Cities in the vicinity of Kyiv, affected by the occupation of the army of the Russian Federation, are trying to return to life.
In particular, water appeared in Irpin: they laid seven kilometers of pipes and launched water from Kyiv. It took about 18 days to restore centralized supplies.
What do its residents say about the restoration of the city and how the city comes to life, they told TSN .
For almost two months, Irpin was dehydrated and his arteries were damaged. So, on one of the streets during active hostilities, only two women left: 76-year-old Olga Kuzmina, because she could not leave the neighboring animals, and Tatyana, who did not want to leave the man who had gone to Teroborona. Their houses survived. True, Tatiana’s fence looks like a sieve because of the hit of cluster shells.
The city has a centralized water supply, but in early March, women were left without water, so they collected rainwater for drinking. Drinking water could only be obtained through three streets from a well, which is rare here.
Women carried water for themselves, helped neighbors. For example, Tatyana constantly visited Lyudmila Nikolaevna. Currently, a woman greets guests with pies. It immediately leads to boasting of its unusual favorite for the city – cows: Azya, Ryabka and Strelka. Lyudmila Nikolaevna for the day when her neighbors did not have time to help her, she herself brought 120 liters of water to the cattle from the well.
Now the life of everyone is local from private houses, and from high-rise buildings it will become easier. In Irpen finally heard the sound of water. By the way, Irpenvodokanal, which served 43,000 subscribers, is almost destroyed. The territory of the enterprise was constantly shelled by heavy artillery. The boiler room burned down. The administrative building was slashed by shells. The hangars were completely destroyed, and almost all the equipment burned down with them.
“80% of the equipment was destroyed. This unit alone cost 3.2 million. Vodokanal suffered a total loss of about 300 million,” says Artur Zagodirenko, head of the Irpenvodokanal communal enterprise.
The workers returned to work as soon as the invaders were driven out of the city. Now almost around the clock repairing the plumbing. After all, the enterprise cools not only Irpen, but also Bucha, Vorzel, Mikhailovka-Rubezhovka. According to them, after 18 days, the impossible was done here.
Now the water is leaving Kyiv. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko says that there is enough margin of safety to provide assistance, but there is no question of reducing water for the people of Kiev. Meanwhile, in Irpen they are planning to rebuild their wells, because now the city is becoming more and more livable.
