On memorial days, the OCU calls to honor the memory of the dead , remembering your own safety, and to bring your prayer both privately and when visiting temples, bringing the appropriate offerings.
This was stated by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Epiphanius on the air of the telethon .
“Due to the fact that there is a danger in those territories that were temporarily occupied, so at this time you do not need to expose yourself to this danger. And at this time you can pray in the temple, bring a memorial service, give a note. That is, it is not necessary to visit at this time, a dangerous time for human life, a cemetery,” he said.
He stressed that the Church calls to be careful and attentive at this time.
“And bring your prayer both privately and when visiting churches, bringing the appropriate offerings. That is, a memorial service or turning to a priest with a request for prayer,” Epiphanius noted.
In turn, the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations also urges Ukrainians to refrain from visiting cemeteries for the memory of deceased relatives and loved ones.
