President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a decision on oil restrictions against the Russian Federation should be made in the near future.
There should be no way for Russia to circumvent the restrictions .
Zelensky said this in a traditional video message on April 30.
“In the near future we expect a decision on oil restrictions against Russia. We insist that a fair part of sanctions against Russian oil should also be blocking any attempts by Russia to circumvent restrictions due to the sale of so-called oil mixtures. If any company or state will help Russia trade in oil, it must also receive sanctions. Any sponsorship in the interests of the Russian military terrorist machine must stop,” Zelensky said.
Recall that the European Union is developing a sixth package of sanctions against Russia and is considering various options for restricting the Russian oil industry, including a ban on the import of certain petroleum products and taxation of imports.
EU sanctions require the consensus of all 27 countries. Some of them, notably Germany and Hungary, oppose a complete ban on oil imports.
