Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians aimed at the dormitory building. A 14-year-old boy was killed and a 17-year-old girl was injured.

A spokesman for the Odessa regional military administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, said rescuers were still dismantling the debris, so the exact number of victims was not yet known.

In addition, during a telethon, Security Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that the church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate also suffered from the shelling. The roof of the building was demolished.

On May 2, the South Command reported Russian activity in the air on the eve of the shelling.
